Correctional Youth Security Supervisor III - Spring Creek Youth Services Center

Location and Eligibility Division of Youth Services – Spring Creek Youth Services Center, Colorado. Open to current Colorado residents only. May fill multiple vacancies. Summary of the Position First‑line formal supervisory position responsible for overseeing direct‑care staff (Youth Services Specialists) and ensuring the safe, secure, and trauma‑responsive care of pre‑adjudicated and adjudicated youth in a locked facility. Duties include staff scheduling, admissions/releases, orientation, security/control, education, programming, meals, medical referral, customer service, and compliance with DYS policies. Responsibilities Supervise and provide reflective supervision to staff, ensuring timely and quality performance. Manage staff scheduling, allocation, onboarding, training, and professional development. Oversee daily facility operations: counts, safety, security, emergency response, and adherence to protocols. Conduct crisis intervention, debriefs, and enforce emergency response protocols. Supervise youth center programming: behavioral groups, rehabilitation, and educational initiatives. Ensure accurate documentation of facility operations, procedures, incident reports, and compliance with DYS policies. Lead on safety, security, and quality control, including inspections, mechanical restraints, seclusion, and PREA compliance. Act as facility supervisor during Director/Assistant Director absences. Maintain positive relationships with staff, youth, families, and external partners. Minimum Qualifications Three (3) years of full‑time corrections‑related experience in a correctional or trauma‑informed facility. High school diploma or GED. (College coursework in social/behavioral sciences, criminal justice, etc. substitutes for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.) Preferred Qualifications Experience in program or project development, training, and facilitation. Supervisory or management experience and data‑driven performance management. Experience working with a high‑risk juvenile population. Policy analysis, development, and implementation experience. Relevant years of state service experience. Conditions of Employment Full background check (CDHS, CBI, fingerprints, etc.). Minimum age 21, no felony convictions or domestic violence history, valid CO driver’s license. Shift work and possible travel across Colorado. Completion of DYS pre‑service training and mandatory annual trainings. Residency in Colorado and interview required.
