Suicide Prevention Coordinator Psychologist - VA Long Beach

• Provide care coordination and monitoring services for Veterans at high risk for suicide, including managing High Risk for Suicide Patient Record Flags and REACH VET responsibilities.
• Lead and support data driven quality improvement projects and implement suicide prevention policies and procedures across VA Long Beach.
• Monitor adherence to suicide prevention standards and key performance measures, analyze data, prepare reports, and provide consultation on suicide prevention topics.
• Support external facility surveys related to suicide prevention standards and participate on the Suicide Postvention Team to ensure coordinated responses for Veterans, families, and staff affected by suicide deaths.
• Conduct community outreach, including educational presentations, outreach events, and coalition work to strengthen suicide prevention in the community.
• Provide comprehensive psychological assessments and suicide risk evaluations, as well as individual and group evidence based interventions (e.g., safety planning, lethal means counseling, crisis response).
• Offer consultation to health care providers on suicide risk assessment and risk reduction strategies, and respond promptly to Veterans Crisis Line referrals and other consults.
• Serve on Mental Health, facility, VISN, and national committees as requested, and provide training to staff and trainees through formal presentations and educational programs.
• Participate in the Psychology Training Program, including clinical supervision of predoctoral and/or postdoctoral trainees and leading educational sessions when requested.

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., full time on site at Long Beach VA.
• No after hours call requirement.

• Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD).
• Completion of an APA accredited internship.
• Full, current, and unrestricted licensure as a psychologist in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• Training and experience in suicide risk assessment, evidence based interventions, and working with adults with serious mental health conditions.

• Board certification is welcome but not required.
• Experience with population level or system level suicide prevention work and interdisciplinary collaboration is highly valued.
• Licensed recent graduates and current trainees are encouraged to apply.
