Circulating Operating Room Nurse

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Schedule may vary each day based on case start times.

Job Description

The Circulating Operating Room Nurse will be responsible for providing competent nursing care in a surgical environment, practicing independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of each clinical situation. The nurse will manage both routine and complex care, continually developing the ability to cope with and manage contingencies within the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to provide care, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Administer medications and treatments according to protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient histories, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers to manage clinical situations effectively.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Circulating OR Nurse in related surgical specialties (ENT, Ophthalmology, Podiatry, GYN, and Plastic Surgery) preferred.
• Current BLS certification (AHA only) required.
• Current ACLS certification (AHA only) required.
• Valid RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
