JOB SUMMARY This role leads environmental field operations. Responsibilities include supervising field personnel, providing technical training, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role supports project planning, resource deployment, cost estimating, and documentation, while maintaining productivity and quality across all field activities. This position plays a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality environmental services to clients and stakeholders. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Skills: Strong computer and verbal/written communication skills are a must Certifications : (beneficial prior to employment, provided as needed) 40-hour Hazardous Waste Site Operation (HAZWOPER), First Aid (FA)/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), RCRA Certification, and USDOT HAZMAT Certification. Some positions require Asbestos Building Inspector, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, etc. Other training and certifications as needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge
Positions average 4 hours of paid overtime per week with start times of 5 - 8 am (depending on location). More overtime (including weekend work) may be required depending upon project demand. Some assignments require intermittent 24 hour on call duty and/or shift work based on project needs. BENEFITS & PERKS
- Supervise assigned staff, conduct performance reviews, and apply retention best practices.
- Understand and perform field tasks associated with all Service Areas, such as Closure, Transaction, Building Sciences, and Remedial Construction.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced field programs and groundwater sampling, monitoring well installations, vapor intrusion investigations, and environmental site assessments
- Proficient in performing specialized tasks including stormwater sampling, industrial hygiene inspections/sampling, remedial construction labor and oversight, and renewable energy reconnaissance
- Ensure accurate field documentation, verify utility locates, inspect equipment, and coordinate subcontractor activities to meet project objectives and regulatory standards.
- Train, mentor, and oversee field personnel in tasks associated with the project's scope of work and all aspects of job site safety
- Provide on-the-job training and develop employees in field procedures, billing time, field documentation (photos, notes, field forms, etc.), and cross training
- Assist in the onboarding of new staff
- Assist Field Operations Manager with scheduling and deploying resources
- Assist with cost estimating, proposal preparation, site walks, and project scoping, as requested.
- Review and enforce Health and Safety Plans (HASPs), at work sites
- Maintain inventory of field supplies
- Evaluate, select, schedule, and manage subcontractors
- Assist in maintaining productivity of group to consistently meet and exceed productivity goals
- Plan for non-billable work tasks when no billable work is available
- Support, implement, and enforce company policies and procedures
- Review and approve timesheets and expense reports
- Manage all projects safely
- Assist with preparation of load lists, field instructions, daily reports, and production reports
- Monitor quality and consistency of field work, including site inspections, equipment, fleet size and care, job site H&S, etc.
- Communicate changes in scope to internal clients, as necessary

- Advanced expertise in environmental field programs (e.g., soil/groundwater sampling, vapor intrusion studies, well installations, etc.)
- Strong background in various soil, water, and vapor sampling techniques, Phase I/II site assessments, hydrogeoloical/aquifer investigations, remedial techniques, excavations, and site reconnaissance
- Familiar with industrial hygiene, stormwater sampling, and regulatory compliance
- Solid understanding of health and safety standards, including site-specific HASPs
- Proficient in cost estimating and project scoping
- Skilled in leading complex field investigations and multi-phase projects
- Experienced in training and supervising technical staff and enforcing safety protocols
- Effective in coordinating subcontractors, verifying locates, and inspecting equipment
- adept at managing scope changes
- Capable of scheduling resources, managing inventory, and driving team performance
- Knowledgeable in reviewing timesheets, expenses, and ensuring policy compliance
- Lead field teams with focus on safety, quality, and efficiency
- Solve technical issues independently in dynamic environments

- Strategically manage workload to optimize utilization
- Collaborate seamlessly with managers, clients, and cross-functional teams
- All positions require the completion of a successful background check, motor vehicle review, and pre-employment drug screen.
- This position requires the use of a personal or company vehicle (light duty pickup trucks or cargo vans) on company business. Driving positions require a current, valid driver's license and maintaining an acceptable driving record. Must be physically capable of operating vehicles safely.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA HAZWOPER standards, including completion of annual medical evaluations to ensure fitness for duty in hazardous environments.
- Employees operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) are subject to regular, random drug testing in compliance with DOT requirements. Certain projects may require participation in random drug screening programs.
- Employees must maintain an active cell phone to ensure availability for work-related coordination.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously for extended periods (up to 10-12 hours/day) and work in a construction environment around heavy equipment
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling in varied terrain and confined spaces
- Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally moving heavier loads with assistance or equipment
- Ability to climb ladders, access elevated or below-grade work areas, and work on uneven surfaces
- Perform repetitive physical tasks such as assembling equipment, collecting samples, and setting up job sites
- Operate a hand and power tools
- Operate and calibrate a variety of sampling equipment
- Learn how to operate machinery, such as a scissor or boom lift, skid steer, etc., with precision and control
- Willingness to consistently work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, ice, rain, snow, wind)
- Willingness to work in environments with possible exposure to hazardous materials/waste and conditions/worksites, including, but not limited to airborne particulates (silica, asbestos, fiberglass, dust, pollen, ash, aerosols); industrial chemicals (petroleum and oil-based products, chlorinated solvents, acids, bases, reagents); contaminated media (groundwater, soil, wastewater, water); lead-based paint, mold, PCBs, demolition debris (fiberglass, silica, asbestos); biological agents (poison ivy/sumac/oak, insects); and noise, heat/cold, vibration.
- Wear and work in PPE on a daily basis, including appropriate work gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots
- Ability to wear and work in Level C PPE in order to compete tasks, including respirators, Tychem/Tyvek suits, gloves, and safety boots, for extended durations when required by project conditions
- Willingness and ability to travel to job sites, sometimes on short notice
- Comfortable working in remote or undeveloped locations with limited amenities
- Strong visual acuity for reading instruments, maps, and documentation
- Ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions and safety signals in noisy environments
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form, including reading and interpreting safety instructions and technical documents
- Mental alertness to follow safety protocols, operate vehicles/equipment, and respond to changing field conditions
- Maintain situational awareness and apply safety protocols in dynamic field environments
- Use visual and auditory senses to monitor equipment, detect hazards, and communicate effectively with team members
