Site: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid/Remote: AzAAP staff are entrusted to work remotely from a consistent, professional home workspace. However, staff are also expected to work in-office when directed and as needed.)
Salary : $60,000 annually ( While performance based raises are considered as early as one year after joining AzAAP, the starting salary is fixed and non-negotiable. )

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager of Substance Use and Overdose Prevention coordinates and oversees the daily functions within the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Priority Area of AzAAP. The position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating initiatives that advance substance use and overdose prevention and improve child and adolescent well-being through provider education, practice transformation, quality improvement, community partnerships, and strategic initiatives. The position also supports the organization's efforts to prevent substance use and overdose and strengthen systems of care for Arizona's children and adolescents through assigned responsibilities related to the Arizona Pediatric Opioid Prevention Network (APOPN) and related programs, projects, and initiatives. Working collaboratively with physician leaders, healthcare providers, community and strategic partners, rural clinics, Tribal health systems, behavioral health organizations, EMS agencies, public health partners, and AzAAP members, the Manager advances evidence-based initiatives that improve the health and well-being of Arizona's children and adolescents.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:*
- Under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, coordinates the day-to-day activities of initiatives within the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Priority Area.
- Maintains tracking systems and collects data to support grantreporting, organizational requirements, and program evaluation for assigned programs, projects, and initiatives.
- Coordinates educational projects, provider trainings, community education, and events related to substance use and overdose prevention, child and adolescent well-being, practice transformation, and quality improvement.
- Coordinates the Arizona Pediatric Opioid Prevention Network (APOPN), including implementation timelines, project deliverables, reporting requirements, statewide partner engagement, and coordination of assigned program activities.
- Supports the coordination and implementation of Project ECHO® cohorts, including curriculum coordination, faculty engagement, participant recruitment, learner support, and related program activities.
- Coordinates opioid antagonist access, education, and implementation activities in collaboration with healthcare providers, community partners, public health organizations, and other stakeholders.
- Supports outreach, communication, and awareness efforts to promote substance use and overdose prevention, evidence-based practices, access to resources, and appropriate services for children, adolescents, and families.
- Maintains and strengthens relationships with healthcare providers, community and strategic partners, rural clinics, Tribal health systems, behavioral health organizations, EMS agencies, public health partners, and other stakeholders within the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Priority Area.
- Supports practice transformation, quality improvement activities, evaluation processes, resource development, and dissemination efforts related to assigned initiatives.
- Works in partnership with members to implement strategies of the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Priority Area and its related committees, continuing education projects, workgroups, and task forces.
- Attends coalition and community meetings to represent assigned initiatives within the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Priority Area.
- Works with partner organizations to promote awareness campaigns on substance use and overdose prevention, child and adolescent well-being, access to resources and services, and related health topics.
- Coordinates efforts to distribute information and resources to AzAAP members related to assigned initiatives and programs.
- Actively participates in and promotes the Substance Use and Overdose Prevention Priority Area initiatives through AzAAP continuing education, community outreach, provider education, quality improvement opportunities, fundraising events, committees, and projects, including but not limited to the annual CME Pediatrics in the Red Rocks Conference.
- Supports securing and coordinating funding through sponsorships, exhibitors, educational grants, foundation and community partnerships, and other fundraising efforts to support assigned education activities and program initiatives.
- Responsible for maintaining grant budgets, reporting requirements, and compliance for assigned programs and initiatives.
- Supports sustainability planning for assigned initiatives, including integration of mature program components into ongoing AzAAP operations, strengthening of partnerships, and identification of future funding opportunities.
- Where applicable, supports and coordinates the activities of other managers within the team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
While this role supports programming related to pediatric medicine and child health, prior medical or health-related experience is not required. Our members are the medical experts; thisrole focuses on managing projects, partnerships, and communication to improve the health of Arizona children and support the pediatric professionals who care for them. Any relevant health-related experience is considered a bonus, not a requirement.

- Demonstrated success planning and managing projects with concrete deadlines, multiple stakeholders, and complex operational and logistical needs.
- 3+ years of experience managing programs, grants, or grant-funded projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, business, communications, child health, or other health-related field preferred.

SALARY & BENEFITS:
- Salary: $60,000 annually
- AzAAP offers generous benefits to its team members, including 3 weeks of paid time off each year, increasing to 5 weeks as your time with AzAAP increases
- AzAAP observes all federal holidays and provides extended paid breaks for Thanksgiving and Winter Holidays
- AzAAP pays 100% of base medical insurance premiums for all full-time employees
Remote Work Policy and Schedule: The Phoenix office is AzAAP’s headquarters and primary work location. At the same time, AzAAP offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement. Employees may work remotely from home or from the office, depending on their individual circumstances, job duties, and supervisor approval. There is no set number of days employees are required to be in the office. Employees are expected to attend in-person meetings whenever requested by members, partners, funders, or their supervisor. There may be certain job duties or business needs that require regular in-office work. When working remotely, all staff must work from a consistent dedicated workspace. AzAAP staff are expected to maintain high levels of professionalism and maintain standard work hours of 8:00am-5:00pm, even when working remotely. While staff may have occasional flexibility to adjust their hours for one-off personal needs, the expectation is that staff will work a consistent 8:00am-5:00pm schedule. AzAAP is a highly collaborative team, and our members expect our staff to be highly responsive. Maintaining regular business hours allows us to do this. It also allows our team to disconnect when the work day is over.
