Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Fitter

Job Description

This role focuses on installing and fitting fire sprinkler systems, including branch lines, main lines, and sprinkler heads, using prefabricated threaded and grooved pipe. You will interpret prefab drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate installation in accordance with project scope and fire protection standards.

Responsibilities

• Install sprinkler pipe for branch lines and main lines according to project specifications.
• Install sprinkler heads accurately and securely to ensure proper fire protection coverage.
• Install prefabricated threaded and grooved pipe using appropriate tools and methods.
• Read and interpret prefab drawings and blueprints to install systems to the defined scope on the prints.
• Perform pipe fitting and plumbing tasks related to fire sprinkler systems, including cutting, threading, and assembling pipe.
• Use a 300 machine and other relevant equipment to prepare and install threaded pipe.
• Ensure all fire sprinkler installations meet applicable fire protection and safety standards.
• Work efficiently in a production-based environment and complete approximately 100 feet of branch or main line as required.
• Maintain and use hand tools, full PPE, and jobsite equipment safely and correctly.
• Collaborate with team members on site to complete long-term projects on schedule.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a sprinkler fitter with hands-on fire sprinkler fitting and installation.
• Strong pipe fitting and plumbing skills specific to fire sprinkler systems.
• Ability to install sprinkler pipe, branch lines, main lines, and sprinkler heads.
• Proficiency installing prefabricated threaded and grooved pipe.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and prefab drawings.
• Experience using a 300 machine for threading pipe.
• Knowledge of fire protection systems and fire sprinkler installation standards.
• Journeyperson-level sprinkler fitter capabilities, including use of hand tools.
• OSHA 30-hour certification.
• SST 10-hour certification.
• Ability to work productively in a production-based environment and consistently install approximately 100 feet of branch or main line.
• Reliable use of full PPE on site.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working on large, long-term fire sprinkler projects.
• Familiarity with both plumbing and fire sprinkler system installation.
• Comfort working with threaded pipe and grooved pipe systems.
• Strong attention to detail when following blueprints and project scopes.
• Ability to maintain consistent attendance to qualify for performance-based pay increases.
• Capability to work independently and grow into lead responsibilities over time.

Work Environment

This position is based on an active construction site in the Bronx, with typical hours from 6:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The schedule includes a 15-minute smoke break and a half-hour lunch break. You will work in a production-based environment where meeting installation goals, such as completing approximately 100 feet of branch or main line, is essential. The role requires daily use of full PPE, hand tools, and equipment such as a 300 machine, and involves working around other trades and construction activities in a field setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
