Barista Position

The Barista is responsible for greeting customers, answering their questions, taking orders and accepting payments and preparing and serving food and drinks. Always presents a friendly and professional image at the Hotel/Casino.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

• Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
• Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
• Provides impeccable guest service to all guests
• Welcomes customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions and accepting orders and payments.
• Prepares foods, such as sandwiches or baked goods, and grinds and blends coffee beans, brews coffee and tea and serves items to customers.
• Packages food and beverages for sale.
• Sells coffee and tea blends.
• Cleans and restocks work area, dining area, and empties trash and sanitizes equipment and utensils.
• Learns about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
• Updates signage and displays to attract customers.
• Takes inventory and replenishes items in display cases, at tables or behind the counter.
• Adheres to all food safety regulations and quality controls.
• Follows established procedures and policies of the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in food and beverage preparation preferred.
• Guest service experience preferred.
• Must be able to handle several projects and tasks at the same time.
• Must be able to perform the physical job duties of all Food & Beverage team members.
• Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
