Marching Band Woodwind Instructor Title: Marching Band Woodwind Instructor Units: 6 Location: Marple Newtown School District Number of Positions: 1 Effective: 2026-2027 School Year Job Description: Marching Band is a club that is dedicated to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all students at Marple Newtown and offers the students a multitude of activities as well as an opportunity to socialize and make lasting friendships. Qualifications: Experience: Experience working with school age students and coordinating and managing events. Skills: Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work with students of all ability levels. Education: Valid PA teaching certificate. Essential Functions: A faculty advisor acts as a liaison between the school administration and the club, providing guidance to student leaders and members. Advisors work with student leaders to plan events and create opportunities for inclusion. Advisors work with program staff to communicate information, and support and build lasting relationships. Advisors will supervise all club-related events and meetings. Provide instruction to students in woodwind techniques, including tone production, articulation, finger technique, intonation, and marching fundamentals to support individual and ensemble performance. Lead sectional rehearsals and assist with full ensemble rehearsals outside the school day, including band camp and scheduled practices, reinforcing music, drill, and performance expectations. Collaborate with the Marching Band Director and staff to ensure alignment of woodwind performance with overall show design, including coordination of musical and visual elements. Assist with performances at football games, competitions, and community events, including student supervision, equipment support, and reinforcement of expectations for discipline, teamwork, and performance readiness. Has read and understands obligations as outlined in MNSD School Board Policies. Other duties as assigned by Administration. Frequency of meetings: September – June; meet 1/week for an hour; 8-10 events per year Approximate number of students enrolled: Approximately 40 students Clearances: In accordance with the school code, Act 24 and all related clearances.
