About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years ICU/Tele experience with medical/surgical trauma/critical patients. Teaching hospital experience required. Level 1 trauma experience is mandatory. License: Current Kentucky or Compact nursing license required. Certifications: BLS ACLS NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates must have Level 1 Trauma experience. All required licenses and certifications must be in hand at the time of submission. Description: This role requires experience in a Level 1 trauma setting. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of ICU/Tele experience, specifically with medical, surgical, trauma, or critical patients. Will accept first-time travelers only if they have Level 1 trauma experience. A minimum of 6 weekend shifts are required per schedule period. Requests for time off are limited during the first two weeks of the assignment. Longer time off can be requested after the initial two-week period. No holiday requests for time off will be accepted. Travelers must work their full schedule without conflicts. Candidates should not be working multiple contracts or assignments simultaneously. This position requires working three out of five winter holidays. Candidates will float within the hospital or to any affiliates nearby. Special procedures may require traveling to other departments for imaging services. Patient ratios are primarily 2:1 for days and nights. Daily census in the unit typically consists of approximately 44 patients. Patients may present with conditions such as sepsis, GI bleed, acute respiratory failure, and multi-system organ failure. Additional interdisciplinary support will be available, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Experience with specific skills such as arterial line management and ventilator management is essential. Compliance with all required training and competencies is mandatory.
