Project Engineer

Zarpac is looking for a part‑time Project Manager to lead the execution of integrated packaging system projects from start to finish. You will work closely with customers and internal teams to deliver complex automation solutions on time, on budget, and to scope. This role is remote, offers flexible scheduling (20–25 hours per week) and reports to the Director of Project Management (Oakville, ON). You’ll play a key role in delivering complex, high‑impact automation solutions for leading manufacturing clients. What You’ll Do Lead projects from kickoff through installation, commissioning, and closeout Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle Coordinate cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Procurement, Production, Quality, etc.) Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and profitability targets Provide regular status updates and proactively address risks and issues Ensure alignment to scope, contract requirements, and customer expectations Coordinate documentation, approvals, and deliverables (drawings, technical packages, etc.) Support customer meetings, project reviews, and milestone discussions Oversee invoicing milestones and assist with resolving billing or payment delays Support on‑site activities including installation, startup, commissioning, and punch‑list resolution Qualifications Degree in Engineering or a related technical field 5+ years of project management experience in automation, engineering, or packaging Experience managing capital equipment or integrated system projects Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities Familiarity with project management tools (MS Project, Excel, etc.) Willingness to travel up to 30–40%, including occasional international travel and off‑hours coordination Technical Requirements Working knowledge of automated packaging systems and line integration Experience reviewing or coordinating technical drawings (layouts, installation packages, etc.) Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and controls components in a manufacturing environment Exposure to installation, commissioning, and startup activities PMP certification and AutoCAD experience are considered assets Benefits Total compensation includes salary and comprehensive medical/dental programs, life insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan with a company match.
