Technician - Process - Visual Inspection (Night Shift)

Responsibilities During the project phase, the Visual Inspection Technician will support commissioning/qualification activities required to bring inspection lines, utilizing semi‑automated and automated technology, into service as well as supporting site operational readiness activities. This role includes the opportunity to become a subject matter expert for the inspection equipment/process with the potential for development into a Line Lead or other leadership role. The position may require domestic travel with the opportunity for international travel based on program need. After the project phase completion, the role will be responsible for the safe operation of highly automated equipment used to inspect syringes, as well as manual inspection of units. The Inspection Technician is expected to model current Good Manufacturing Practices and ensure compliance with all safety standards. They will support the Line Lead in the development of operators and identification of opportunities for operational improvement. Key Objectives Provide commissioning, qualification, and operational readiness support during the project phase. Adhere to RTP Plant safety policies and procedures, contributing to a safe work environment. Adhere to standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices to ensure product quality. Support leadership on the manufacturing floor by ensuring a high level of safety, quality, and productivity to maintain reliable supply of products to patients. Proactively monitor documentation and product quality; properly document all activities and report issues to supervision. Function as a reliable point of contact for issue escalation on the shop floor. Assist the supervisor in the development and training of shift operators. Drive key departmental objectives including improving safety performance, reducing deviations, enhancing productivity, and ensuring training compliance. Basic Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or equivalent regulated industry. Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. Previous experience with pre‑filled syringe (PFS) technology. Previous experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems and electronic batch records. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles. Additional Information Position is located at the Lilly Research Triangle Park site. May require a short duration assignment of 1–2 months (domestic or international) to establish device knowledge, global contacts, and provide production support. Ability to wear safety equipment (safety glasses, safety shoes, protective gloves, etc.). Ability to work 12‑hour shifts on nights (2‑2‑3 schedule). Ability to work overtime as required. Compensation Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $17.30 – $34.38 per hour. Full‑time equivalent employees are also eligible for a company bonus (depending in part on company and individual performance).
