Description

American Traveler is hiring a Wound Care RN (BSN) for a day-shift position at a Magnet-designated, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital, requiring WOCN certification and 2 years of wound care experience.

Details

• Wound Care unit within a hospital setting
• Day shift, 5x8 hours, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
• No weekend requirements
• No on-call requirements
• No floating required within scope, but floating to sister facilities for like units may be required
• Epic EMR used for charting

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required
• BSN required
• BLS and WOCN certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a WOCN RN
• Epic charting experience required
• Pediatric wound care experience highly preferred
• Skilled in wound treatments and dressings including alginates, foams, hydrocolloids, hydrogels, and silver products
• Experience with debridement techniques including autolytic, enzymatic, mechanical, and sharp debridement
• Proficient in wound vac therapy and vacuum assisted closure
• Experience with ostomy and continence care including colostomy/ileostomy management and catheter care
• Skilled in wound and ulcer assessment and management including pressure, venous, arterial, and neuropathic ulcers
• Knowledge of pressure ulcer staging (Stage I-IV)
• Experience with Braden scale and other risk assessment tools
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive wound, ostomy, and continence care to adult and pediatric patients
• Perform wound assessments, dressing changes, and specialized treatments including hyperbaric oxygen therapy and electrical stimulation where applicable
• Educate patients and families on wound, ostomy, and continence management
• Collaborate within a Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital environment that is also a Level 1 Trauma center
• Facility provides scrubs
• Must reside within 60 miles of the facility, with non-local candidates prioritized
• Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at time of application for manager approval
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on qualifications
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June through November, peaking in August and September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response duties
