Position Overview College: College of Ethnic Studies Position Title: 2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Pan African Studies Department: Pan-African Studies (PAS), Department of Pan African Studies, College of Ethnic Studies, Cal State LA. Position Details The Pan African Studies Department in the College of Ethnic Studies at Cal State LA is seeking part‑time faculty lecturers for the 2026–2027 academic year. Positions are filled as needed for each semester and are offered on a conditional appointment basis, typically for one semester with possible renewal. Appointments may be made on short notice; lecturers should be available to begin at the start of a semester. Minimum Qualifications Appropriate degree from an accredited university (bachelor’s for lower‑division courses, master’s for upper‑division undergraduates, doctoral for graduate courses or master’s plus substantial teaching experience for graduate courses). Demonstrated excellence in college‑level teaching and proficiency in written and oral use of English. Ability to relate well within an academic environment and interest in working in multiethnic, multicultural settings. Commitment to student‑centered learning and inclusive teaching practices. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, inclusive environment. Relevant work experience and training in the field. Duties Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Additional duties as assigned by department needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are determined by the Department Chair under the College Dean’s direction. Salary Initial salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary schedule (7/1/2024) is: Lecturer A: $5,507‑$6,677 /month, Lecturer B: $6,221‑$13,224, Lecturer C: $6,825‑$14,523, Lecturer D: $8,593‑$15,211. New hires typically receive Lecturer A or B rank.
