About the Role:

The Service Advisor plays a critical role as the primary point of contact between customers and the automotive service department. This position is responsible for understanding customer needs, accurately diagnosing vehicle issues through effective communication with technicians, and providing clear, detailed service recommendations. The Service Advisor ensures a seamless customer experience by managing service appointments, explaining repair options, and facilitating timely service delivery. Success in this role results in high customer satisfaction, repeat business, and efficient service operations. Ultimately, the Service Advisor contributes to the dealership’s reputation by fostering trust and transparency with every customer interaction.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in automotive service advising or a related customer service role.
• Basic understanding of automotive systems and repair processes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with computer systems and dealership management software.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) or equivalent.
• Experience working in a dealership environment.
• Advanced knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and repair procedures.
• Training in customer relationship management (CRM) tools.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers promptly and professionally, assessing their vehicle service needs and concerns.
• Schedule service appointments and manage workflow to optimize technician productivity and customer wait times.
• Communicate vehicle issues and repair options clearly to customers, providing accurate estimates and timelines.
• Coordinate with service technicians to diagnose problems and ensure quality repairs are completed.
• Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, service orders, and vehicle history in the dealership management system.
• Follow up with customers post-service to confirm satisfaction and address any additional concerns.
• Promote additional services and maintenance packages that benefit the customer and enhance vehicle performance.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and dealership policies during service operations.

Skills:

The Service Advisor uses strong communication skills daily to clearly explain technical information to customers in an understandable way, ensuring transparency and trust. Organizational skills are essential for managing multiple service appointments, tracking vehicle status, and maintaining accurate records. Problem-solving abilities help in coordinating between customers and technicians to resolve issues efficiently. Proficiency with dealership management software and CRM tools enables the Service Advisor to document service details, schedule appointments, and follow up effectively. Additionally, interpersonal skills foster positive relationships with customers and team members, contributing to a collaborative and customer-focused work environment.
