This role will lead Rare Beauty’s global social presence, shaping how we show up, connect, and build community across all owned and emerging platforms. As the Director of Global Social, you will define the voice of the brand in culture, ensuring everything we create feels authentic, emotionally resonant, and rooted in our mission to help people feel seen and accepted. You’ll blend creative intuition with data-driven insight to build a social ecosystem that inspires connection, sparks conversation, and brings our community closer to the brand, our products, and each other. From everyday moments to major launches, you’ll lead storytelling that is digital-first, culturally relevant, and deeply human. This role will drive how we show up in real time, tapping into culture, empowering self-expression, and turning trends into meaningful brand moments. You’ll partner cross-functionally to bring campaigns to life across channels, while equipping global and regional teams with the tools to show up consistently and authentically. Above all, you’ll ensure Rare Beauty continues to lead with purpose on social, building a space that not only drives engagement and growth, but also creates a positive, inclusive community people want to be part of. Responsibilities Own and lead Rare Beauty’s global social and content strategy end-to-end, from vision through execution, ensuring every touchpoint is rooted in purpose, community, and cultural relevance. Set the creative and strategic direction for social-first storytelling across platforms, spanning short-form, long-form, still imagery, and emerging formats, with a focus on digital-first content. Translate brand moments, product launches, and cultural insights into compelling narratives that inspire connection, spark conversation, and build lasting community. Champion a “community-first” approach—fostering meaningful, two-way engagement and ensuring Rare Beauty’s platforms remain a safe, inclusive, and inspiring space for self-expression. Lead real-time cultural participation, identifying trends, platform innovations, and emerging behaviors, and translating them into impactful, first-to-market brand moments. Partner closely with Creative to evolve and uphold Rare Beauty’s visual identity and tone of voice across all social content, ensuring consistency while continuously pushing creative boundaries. Leverage data and insights to inform strategy. Translating performance into clear, actionable learnings that optimize content, drive engagement, and strengthen brand equity. Own global social reporting, synthesizing performance, trends, and key learnings into clear narratives that inform future strategy and cross-functional decision-making. Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing global social and content team. Setting a clear vision, elevating creative output, and fostering a culture of collaboration, agility, and excellence. Partner with platforms, creators, and external agencies to unlock innovation, test new formats, and keep Rare Beauty at the forefront of social and cultural trends. Collaborate cross-functionally (PR, Influencer, Paid, DTC, Creative, Retail) to ensure social is fully integrated into 360 campaigns and key business initiatives. Act as a cultural barometer for the brand. Deeply understanding our community and identifying opportunities to show up in ways that feel timely, relevant, and impactful. Ensure Rare Beauty is consistently early to platform features and innovations in organic, reinforcing our position as a leader in digital-first storytelling. Occasionally represent the brand on-camera across social content, live streams, and virtual moments. Showing up in a way that feels authentic, engaging, and true to the Rare Beauty community. Establish clear global frameworks that empower regional teams to localize content while maintaining brand consistency. Ensure social strategies are culturally nuanced and locally relevant across key markets. Partner with Comms/PR to manage real-time response and guide social POV during sensitive or high-visibility moments. Act as the voice of the community internally, translating insights into actionable opportunities across the business. Own and manage the global social content production budget in partnership with the CMO, ensuring strategic allocation of resources to deliver high-impact, culturally relevant content at scale. Other duties as assigned. Requirements 10+ years of experience in social media, content strategy, or digital marketing, with a strong focus on leading global, consumer-facing brands. Proven track record of building and scaling large, engaged social communities while driving culturally relevant, conversation-leading brand storytelling. Deep expertise in social platforms and evolving digital behaviors, with a sharp understanding of how to translate trends into meaningful, brand-right moments. Strong creative and strategic instincts, with the ability to turn brand objectives into social-first, thumb-stopping content that drives both engagement and business impact. Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with a passion for mentoring and elevating creative and strategic talent. Exceptional communication and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across global teams. Experience managing budgets and external partners (agencies, production), with a focus on maximizing impact and efficiency. Highly organized with the ability to navigate multiple priorities in a fast-paced, always-on environment, balancing speed, quality, and attention to detail. Deep connection to culture and community, with a genuine passion for building inclusive spaces and creating content that resonates on a human level.
