Our community is a close-knit group of remarkable individuals driven by intellectual inquiry, a commitment to social justice, and a shared dedication to making a difference in the world.The HVAC Mechanic performs technical trades work to maintain heating, ventilating and air conditioning and/or refrigeration equipment as part of the services provided by the facilities management department to maintain University buildings. The incumbent provides daily maintenance support to building users to respond to calls for service, making scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and similar service. Additional duties include, but are not limited to:Manage all repairs/maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems and components up to DDC/energy management panels (including, but not limited to all work associated with pneumatic thermostats, calibrating; pneumatic actuators, main air distribution lines; branch air distribution lines; all pneumatic end devices, compressors, dryers, filters, and PRV stations; VAV Controls).Perform journeyman level maintenance and repairs in accordance with industry/trade practices.Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and unscheduled or special work such as overhauls, replacements, surveys and similar projects.Use all standard tools, equipment, materials and supplies of the trade, observing all safety rules, regulations, and precautions in performing their duties.Requirements and QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentA minimum of five years' experience in commercial and residential HVAC/refrigerationUniversal EPA – CFC certificationCompletion of apprenticeship or four years of equivalent training in the heating/ventilating and air conditioning and refrigeration tradeGeneral knowledge of DDC/EMS system and computer controls and a good working knowledge of pneumatic controlsComputer literacyA valid driver's permit from Maryland, District of Columbia, or VirginiaEEO Statement:GU is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
