Designer

Creative Business Interiors specializes in designing, building, and furnishing corporate, educational, and healthcare interior environments. Our primary market is Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill; however, we also work throughout the state and across the US. We implement our work in the field with our in-house installation crew, knowledgeable design staff and preventive maintenance team. Founded in 1999, we have an excellent reputation with many long-term employees, vendors, and client relationships.

Position Overview:

Creatives’ Designers are an integral part of the all-inclusive customer experience, assessing customer needs, and recommending solutions to achieve their business goals. The Designer manages customer relationships from initial design consulting through development, furniture installation, and completion for multiple accounts as a part of a 2-person team (Designer + Account Executive). The team is responsible for driving new business opportunities through cross-selling products and services, all project and daily work order activities to provide customer satisfaction for retention and growth of current customer accounts and is responsible for RFP/Bid responses.

The Designer’s areas of expertise:

Design

• Consults with client and project team members to identify project parameters

• Conducts site analysis and field verification including furniture inventory

• Participates in key project meetings from project conception to completion

• Makes product and finish selections relative to the specific needs of the client and within budgetary considerations

• Develops furniture plans including technology, electrical and communication data for use with project team members including the client, architectural and design firms, contractors, and sub- contractors

• Working knowledge and follows all local, state, and national building codes as they relate to the workplace space plan, furniture and finishes to ensure proper ergonomics and workplace safety

• Develops detailed furniture plans, renderings, and finish schedules to ensure clear communication of all proposed furniture layouts, products, and finishes as well as architectural enhancements.

• Develops detailed specifications for furniture, finishes and accessories. Double checks all specifications for accuracy along with the Account Manager

• Reviews documentation of all clients approved work for accuracy and completeness prior to order entry

• Creates detailed installation documents for furniture and finishes for both internal and external use

• Attends and participates in workplace, product and design software seminars and training sessions to help facilitate professional growth

• Works collaboratively with other colleagues to achieve goals related to project quality and process while maintaining client expectations

The Designer is responsible for:

Customer/Account Servicing in conjunction with the Account Manager:

• Provides timely response to customer’s requests for products, services and/or information.

• Maintains comprehensive understanding of customer’s needs, corporate goals, business practices and satisfaction/performance criteria

• Is responsible for on-going relationships with client personnel and client third parties (contractors, A&D firms, etc.)

• Provides frequent and regular status updates to customer regarding project and work order status

• Attends project and account meetings as necessary

The Designer is responsible for, in conjunction with the Account Manager:

Sales Order Management

• Develop typical, layouts, and product specifications in conjunction with internal project services and outside parties, including furniture manufacturers, sales reps, and A&D firms

• Develops and provides presentation for products and services and explains those details to the customer as required

• Produces timely, detailed, and accurate project quotes

• Maintains project budget and guarantees business profitability through accurate costs and sell amounts for all product and services based on contract pricing, gross margin guidelines, and established service pricing

• Introduces new products and services to grow and expand business with existing customers

• Ensures documentation standards are maintained for all account activities and compiles with dealership process and procedures

Project & Work Order Management

• Oversees all customer projects and work orders, ensuring standards of performance are met

• Manages and coordinates dealer team for implementation of customer orders and service requests including project managers, installation managers, customer representatives/project coordinators, installation crews, etc.

• Reviews work plans, schedules, and logistics established for customer’s projects

• Coordinates with client third parties

We are searching for an individual with a history of success, who has obtained a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design. Preferred experience with CET and Project Matrix.

Key Strengths:

• Proficiency in AutoCAD required, CET Designer experience is a plus and can be from the collegiate environment.

• Knowledge of space planning and furniture layouts

• Systems specification skills and contract furniture experience is highly preferred

• Experience with Project Matrix/Project Spec or other similar specification tool is desired

• Proficient in budgeting and pricing commercial furniture

• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 is beneficial

• Ability to work in a team environment while also being self-motivated with minimal supervision

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Detailed oriented

• Able to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines consistently

• Familiar with office environment issues and trends
