Job Description: Testing Coordinator

School Year: 2026 2027

Position Summary:

The Testing Coordinator is responsible for assisting Kankakee High School with the effective planning, coordination, administration, monitoring, documentation, and completion of required student assessments during the 2026 2027 school year. The Testing Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for assessment logistics and supports the school in maintaining compliance.

The coordinator will assist with the administration of assessments including, but not limited to, PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, Pre-ACT, ACT, ACCESS for ELLs, and other state, district, college-readiness, instructional, or mandated assessments designated during the school year. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, effective communication, and the ability to coordinate multiple assessment activities while ensuring that testing procedures are implemented consistently and securely.

Essential Functions:

Assessment Planning & Coordination

• Assist school administration in developing and maintaining an annual assessment calendar for Kankakee High School.
• Coordinate logistics for PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, Pre-ACT, ACT, ACCESS for ELLs , and other required assessments.
• Assist with identifying testing dates, locations, student testing groups, testing rooms, staffing needs, and schedules.
• Coordinate with administrators, counselors, teachers, paraprofessionals, special education staff, EL/bilingual staff, and other personnel regarding assessment requirements.
• Monitor assessment timelines and communicate upcoming deadlines to appropriate staff.
• Assist with scheduling make-up testing and alternate testing opportunities when permitted.
• Support the coordination of testing for students who are absent, newly enrolled, medically unable to test, or otherwise require an approved alternate testing arrangement.

State, District & Other Assessments

The Testing Coordinator will assist with any additional assessments designated by the district, school administration, ISBE, or an authorized testing provider.

Potential assessments may include:

• Illinois state assessments;
• College-readiness assessments;
• English language proficiency assessments;
• District benchmark assessments;
• End-of-course or content-area assessments;
• Career and college readiness assessments;
• Advanced Placement or other College Board assessments, as assigned;
• Other assessments identified by the district during the 2026 2027 school year.

The coordinator's responsibilities will be based on the specific requirements and procedures established for each assessment.

Testing Environment & Test-Day Operations

• Assist with preparing testing rooms and testing environments.
• Ensure appropriate signage, seating arrangements, technology, materials, and other testing requirements are in place.
• Assist with assigning and communicating responsibilities to test administrators, proctors, monitors, and support personnel.
• Provide testing-day reminders and procedures to assigned staff.
• Assist with monitoring attendance and testing participation.
• Assist administrators in addressing testing-day logistical concerns.
• Maintain a calm, organized, and student-centered testing environment.
• Support appropriate procedures for students who arrive late, leave testing, become ill, or experience other testing-day circumstances.
• Assist with make-up testing and resolution of incomplete testing sessions.

Testing Security & Confidentiality

• Follow all applicable testing-security requirements established by ISBE, College Board or ACT assessment vendors, and Kankakee School District 111.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of student testing information, testing materials, student accommodations, assessment results, and other protected information.
• Assist with securing testing materials before, during, and after testing.
• Ensure testing materials are accounted for and returned according to established procedures.
• Report suspected testing irregularities, security concerns, or breaches immediately to the appropriate administrator.
• Maintain appropriate documentation related to testing incidents and irregularities.
• Follow district policies and applicable federal and state requirements concerning student privacy and confidentiality.

Testing Accommodations & Accessibility

• Work with school personnel to support implementation of approved testing accommodations.
• Collaborate with special education, EL/bilingual, 504, counseling, and administrative staff as appropriate.
• Verify testing accommodations against authorized documentation and applicable assessment rules.
• Assist with appropriate testing environments for students requiring accommodations.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding students' disability, language, medical, or other protected information.
• Communicate concerns regarding accommodations to the appropriate administrator or designated assessment contact rather than independently altering testing requirements.

Testing Communication & Staff Support

• Serve as a central school-based resource for assessment logistics.
• Communicate testing schedules, procedures, deadlines, and expectations clearly and professionally.
• Provide staff with testing information and reminders in a timely manner.
• Assist with staff training and/or orientation related to assigned testing responsibilities.
• Develop and distribute testing-day schedules, room assignments, proctor assignments, and other necessary materials.
• Respond to staff questions and direct technical, policy, or assessment-specific questions to the appropriate district or testing authority.
• Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with students, families, staff, administrators, and external testing organizations.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures and testing-security protocols.
• Basic computer and technology proficiency.
• Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, families, and support staff.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and solution-oriented during high-volume testing periods.

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree (required)
• Teaching license for the particular position as required by the State.

Physical Requirements :

• Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
• Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
• Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree

Working Conditions and Environment :

• Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/classroom environment
• Very limited or no exposure to physical risk
