Make a meaningful impact supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an educational setting that values expertise and adaptability. This contract opportunity offers the chance to serve a diverse K-12 population in a consulting capacity, either in-person or virtually. The ideal candidate will bring specialized knowledge and a collaborative approach to help ensure student success in a supportive environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid or eligible Indiana Exceptional Needs—Deaf and Hard of Hearing teaching license
- Prior experience as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher in educational settings
- Strong understanding of best practices for working with DHH students
- Capable of providing consultation and support to educational teams
- Comfortable working with various grade levels (K-12)
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility regarding work assignments, settings (on-site/virtual), and schedules as final details are established
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with school staff, families, and students to ensure educational needs of DHH learners are met
- Support IEP development and implementation for students across K-12
- Guide the adaptation of instructional materials and classroom strategies for accessibility
- Provide professional development and expertise to staff members regarding DHH best practices
- Participate in meetings and collaborate with educational professionals as caseload and responsibilities are finalized
