Executive Director

Confidential

the client preserves and interprets the diverse stories of Adirondack history, culture, and people to spark thoughtful dialogue and help shape the Adirondacks of the future. The client is seeking an Executive Director to lead the museum into its next phase of growth and development, bringing energy, creative capacity, and vision. The institution works to be a trusted repository for the material culture and stories of the Adirondacks, supported by major permanent and temporary exhibitions and a specialized regional library serving both the public and the research community. As Executive Director, the client will provide stewardship, direction, and day-to-day management of the museum. The role is responsible for developing a program of exhibitions, education, and signature activities that uplift the region’s artistic, historical, and cultural assets. Working with the board, the Executive Director will develop a multi-year strategic plan to advance the organization’s mission and vision and to support continued financial stability and growth. The client’s outreach includes year-round educational programming delivered in person and digitally, reaching students and adults throughout the Adirondack Park and beyond through school visits and tailored programs. The museum also plans to open a new permanent, interactive exhibition in 2027 focused on the Black Experience in the Adirondacks, reflecting ongoing efforts to enrich understanding of significant contributions by the Black community and other diverse communities over time. Candidates should be prepared to lead and sustain an institution with a broad collection and active exhibition and education mission, and to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to support long-term impact.
