Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: Valid compact or state license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: - Previous acute care experience in the specialty applied for - Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills Description: The position is in a medical oncology unit. The focus is on caring for adult and geriatric patients. Common diagnoses include various solid tumor cancers, including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers. Caring for patients throughout their cancer journey is essential. The role involves assisting with treatment and transition to end-of-life care. Infection prevention and patient safety are top priorities. Staffing ratios aim for a goal of 1:4, but may be up to 1:5. Variable weekend shifts are based on unit needs. Floating to other medical-surgical oncology units is required. Telemetry monitoring and interpretation skills are crucial. Chemotherapy administration experience is preferred but not required. Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Special equipment utilized includes telemetry monitors and infusion pumps.
