For more information about 4-H, visit This position will assist in the planning, management, and supportof 4-H Youth Development programs in assigned geographic area,under the guidance and supervision of the 4-H Youth DevelopmentSpecialist/Educator. This position will be expected to provideHealthy Living programming that will include drug and alcoholprevention curriculum for every school in Texas County.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Advocate for positive youth development in the community and MUExtension. Assist in coordination and planning, management, marketing,implementing and evaluation of Healthy Living programming for everyschool in Texas County that will include partner organizations andcollaboration with Extension Health and Human Science faculty. Build and expand external local partnerships to grow the 4-Hprogram in the county, including but not limited to Schools,Community Centers, and other Youth serving organizations. Build and expand internal partnerships to grow the 4-H programin the county, including partnerships among other UM Colleges andMissouri Extension programs: Agriculture & Environment,Business and Community, Health and Human Science. Assist with coordination and planning, management, marketing,implementing (including teaching) and evaluation (includingreporting) of researched based curriculum that has an emphasis onLeadership and Civic Engagement, STEM, Healthy Living, Agricultureand Natural Resources, as well as other career exploration topics.Including curriculums offered face to face activities andonline. Build capacity amongst volunteers and community partners,fostering developmental relationships to contribute to programgrowth. Engage and empower volunteers and community partners toeffectively implement 4-H programs across all delivery modes. Develop leadership capacity among youth. Assist in the management of financial and in-kindresources. Coordinate and/or conduct educational events, contests, camps,and programs utilizing a positive youth development approach. Contribute to the statewide effort to impact the lives of allMissourians positively including promotion of state and nationalevents and contests. Report accomplishments and impacts to appropriate sourcesincluding supervisor, funders, and stakeholders. Assist with record keeping and report preparation of 4-H YouthDevelopment Programs. Ensure that individuals in the county can participate inextension programs. Participate in training and professional developmentopportunities for continued in knowledge, skills, and abilities asit is related to the 4-H Youth Development program. Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including someevenings and weekends, is required to fulfill assignedresponsibilities. As with all positions, involvement with other duties andresponsibilities may be expected in order to support the missionand purpose of MU Extension.

LEADERSHIP RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Administrative supervision is received from the assigned FieldSpecialist/Educator in 4-H Youth Development. This position is notresponsible for supervision.

UNIVERSITY INFORMATION

The University of Missouri, also known as Mizzou and MU, is theFlagship University of the four-campus University of Missourisystem. MU’s broadundergraduate programs and its’ graduate, professional and researchprograms attract annual enrollment of more than 30,000 students. MU Extension andEngagement programs are located on all four campuses and in 114counties and St. Louis city. Shift Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Ability to travel and to work flexible hours, including someevenings and weekends, is required to fulfill assignedresponsibilities. Minimum Qualifications An associate degree or an equivalent combination of education andexperience and some experience from which comparable knowledge andskills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications A minimum of six hours in one or more of the domains of the 4-HProfessional, Research, Knowledge and Competency Taxonomy (PRKC)for youth development. Domains are youth and adult development,learning strategies and education, organizational systems andresource management, community partnerships and volunteerism. Experience in group work that involved direct care and interactionwith children, such as YMCA, day care, schools, recreationalfacilities etc. may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for thestated education. Individual must be self-motivated, be willing to take initiativeand have the ability to work with minimum supervision.

ASSOCIATES WILL BE EVALUATED ON

A yearly Plan of Work based on locally identified needs. Ability and willingness to learn and implement hands-onlearning that has an emphasis on emphasis on Leadership and CivicEngagement, STEM, Healthy Living, Agriculture and NaturalResources, as well as other career exploration topics. Ability to build internal and external partnerships to grow the4-H program. Ability to effectively use social media and informationtechnology including a variety of Windows based computer softwareprograms. Ability to remain organized, accurate, and dependable with apositive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team. Demonstration of strong communication skills when identifyingand working with partners, youth, volunteers, and communitymembers/organizations to provide a quality program. Marketing, promotion, and evaluation of programs offered. Use of creativity, problem solving and the ability to think onyour feet. Ability to understand, synthesize and communicate relevantinformation to various audiences. Ability to recruit, develop and train youth and adults asvolunteer leaders to assist with the implementation of the 4-Hprogram.
