Subcontracts Manager

Overview Position: Subcontract Supervisor Req ID: 7556 Number of Openings: 1 Travel Requirement: Up to 25% travel (rotational or full relocation as required). We are seeking an experienced field‑oriented Subcontract Supervisor with 10+ years in the Heavy Civil, Industrial, and/or Power sectors. This hybrid role oversees full‑cycle management of large‑scale, high‑value subcontracts, acting as the primary commercial and administrative lead on project sites. Roles and Responsibilities Administration & Compliance: Primary commercial contact for all subcontractors after award. Lead formal subcontract kick‑off meetings to align on scope, safety, schedule, and administrative procedures. Track and manage all compliance items: insurance certificates, bonds, safety plans, and quality control documentation. Performance Management: Monitor subcontractor progress against project schedule, working with Superintendent and Project Controls. Identify and mitigate risks, performance issues, and schedule slippages. Change Management: Manage the subcontract change order process from notification to execution. Maintain the official change log and ensure proper documentation. Financial Control: Validate and process subcontractor applications for payment and invoices. Track and manage potential back‑charges, claims, or disputes. Closeout: Lead subcontract closeout, including punch list, lien waiver collection, warranty documentation, and release of retainage. Requirements Advanced Negotiation: Proven ability to lead complex, high‑stakes negotiations and resolve disputes amicably and professionally. Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of cost control, invoice validation, and the financial impact of change orders and claims. Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex contractual concepts. Field Orientation: Practical, hands‑on understanding of field operations, construction sequencing, safety; able to read engineering drawings and specifications. Organization: Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple high‐value subcontracts simultaneously. Qualifications & Experience Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related field is strongly preferred. Experience: Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in subcontract management, procurement, or contract administration. Direct project experience within Heavy Civil, Industrial (e.g., Petrochemical, Manufacturing), or Power (e.g., Generation, Renewables, T&D) sectors. Proven experience managing subcontracts valued over $10 million. Project Types: Experience with EPC, Design‑Build, and Lump‑Sum delivery models is highly desirable. Technology: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with construction management software such as Procore or Viewpoint, and Vista ERP systems is preferred.
