Systems Engineer 3

Location: San Diego, CA (On-Site) Clearance Required: Active DoD Secret Clearance (SAP eligibility required) Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship Required

Position Overview: A major aerospace company is seeking a Systems Engineer 3 to support the ANS department. In this role, you will apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies using tools such as Cameo and DOORS to support system architecture development. You will play a key role in translating customer requirements into detailed system specifications and supporting the full product lifecycle—from concept through disposal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform technical planning, system integration, and verification & validation (V&V) activities
• Conduct cost, risk, supportability, and effectiveness analyses across the total system lifecycle
• Analyze systems at all levels, including concept, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal
• Translate customer and product requirements into comprehensive system solutions within technical, schedule, and cost constraints
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, and detailed trade studies
• Support requirements allocation and interface definition to derive hardware and software specifications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance and integration

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field with 5+ years of experience OR
• Master's degree with 3+ years of experience OR
• PhD with 1+ year of experience
• Experience in systems engineering and requirements development, management, and analysis
• Experience with MBSE, software design, or software-aided engineering tools
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to meet program security requirements
• Active DoD Secret clearance required
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP access
• U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Computer Engineering
• Active DoD Top Secret clearance
• Experience with MBSE tools (Cameo, MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Sparx EA, Enterprise Architect)
• Experience supporting military or spacecraft systems
• Experience with large-scale, complex system development programs
• Strong background in requirements development, decomposition, and management
• Experience in system architecture, CONOPS, and MBSE methodologies
• Familiarity with ICD, IRS, and IDD development and integration
• Experience presenting technical briefings to stakeholders
• Agile Systems Engineering experience
• Experience in Cost Account Management (CAM)
• Proficiency in SysML or UPDM modeling languages
• Familiarity with DoDAF, UAF, or similar modeling frameworks
• SysML certification and/or INCOSE CSEP certification preferred
