Claims Examiner

Location This position is available in the following U.S. locations: Atlanta, GA Boston, MA Chicago, IL Manhattan, NY Scottsdale, AZ West Hartford, CT Job Type Permanent Work Arrangement Hybrid. Requires working in office a minimum of two (2) days per week. Role Senior Claims Examiner – Miscellaneous Professional Liability. Adjudicates assigned claims within authority, following Hiscox Claims Best Practices. Responsibilities Adjust and resolve low to moderate professional liability claims, including litigated matters. Document claim files accurately and in compliance with policies and regulatory authorities. Communicate confidently with claimants or claimant attorneys. Draft coverage, reservation of rights, and denial letters with minimal supervision. Review and analyze claims to determine appropriate reserving. Identify emerging exposures and claims trends. Manage defense counsel when necessary for litigated matters. Identify suspected fraudulent claims and coordinate with the Special Investigations Unit. Participate in claims projects as needed. Requirements 2–5 years of claims handling experience in Professional Liability or specialty claims with an insurer. Advanced knowledge of claims analysis, adjusting practices, documentation standards, and legal filings. Proven ability to negotiate settlement of moderate complexity claims. Strong written and verbal communication skills; customer‑facing role. Active insurance adjuster license. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; JD is a plus.
