We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team on Mondays' and Tuesdays'!

Duties

• Assist dentists with a wide range of procedures including restorative, oral surgery, prosthodontic, and endodontic treatments using four-handed dentistry techniques.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring accuracy and patient comfort.
• Manage medical documentation by updating and maintaining electronic health records (EMR systems) while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
• Perform vital signs assessments and medical history reviews to support comprehensive patient care.
• Prepare treatment areas with aseptic techniques, sterilize instruments, and ensure infection control protocols are strictly followed.
• Educate patients on dental procedures, post-treatment care, and oral health maintenance in a friendly and professional manner.
• Support the front office team by handling dental receptionist duties when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient records.
• Assist with dental coding for billing purposes related to dental procedures and coordinate with insurance providers as necessary.
• Operate dental equipment such as intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices to facilitate accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment that promotes safety and efficiency for both staff and patients.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on expanded functions or similar roles within a busy dental clinic setting.
• Familiarity with EMR systems is a must.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
• Experience working with endodontic, oral surgery, and prosthodontic procedures is a must
• Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately and efficiently while ensuring patient comfort.
• Demonstrated competence in chairside assisting across various specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients about treatment plans and oral health strategies.
