Clinical Staff Pharmacist

Clinical Staff Pharmacist The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for providing quality pharmaceutical care/services to patients and health care professionals at any ARH or affiliated unit as assigned. Responsibilities include proper assessment of patients’ pharmaceutical needs, compounding and dispensing of prescribed medications, inventory management, patient counseling, and collaboration with healthcare teams regarding drug therapy. Responsibilities Supervises and performs functions involved in the drug distribution process. Performs accurate and complete order entry for medication orders. Interprets and evaluates medication and intravenous orders for allergies, appropriateness, duplication, and interactions. Screens for and documents adverse drug reactions according to ARH program. Supervises and checks the work of technicians in order entry, filling of orders or prescriptions, and/or unit dose cart fill. Accurately fills medication orders and prescriptions. Compounds non‑sterile pharmaceutical products. Counsels patients concerning medications (inpatient or outpatient). Prices and bills prescriptions or medication orders. Supervises and performs functions involved with the IV admixture program. Prepares, labels, and screens IV admixtures for compatibility. Uses appropriate aseptic technique in drug preparation and safe techniques in chemotherapy preparation. Maintains IV room area and performs quality control checks and certifications. Makes interventions to improve patient care through effective communication. Performs physician consults and initiates interactions with physicians regarding drug therapy. Documents clinical interventions. Assists in establishing protocols, policies, and procedures for appropriate drug use. Formulates care plans and reassesses therapy as patient condition requires. Responds to codes or emergency situations as required. Provides current and accurate drug information to patients and other healthcare professionals. Provides formal and informal educational services to patients, health professionals, students, and the community. Operates pharmacy computers and electronic equipment, printing lists and labels. Maintains laminar flow hoods and updates departmental files. Ensures proper storage and distribution of floor stock and emergency drugs according to policies and procedures. Maintains records and levels of medication and supply inventory. Outlaws control substances distribution documentation and oversees ordering of medications and supplies. Manages age‑specific competencies and performs duties accordingly. Serves on hospital committees as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy, Pharm.D., or other advanced degree. Licensure eligibility in the state of employment.
