Associate Veterinarian

Introduction
This locally owned mixed animal hospital in Livingston, Montana is seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join its three-doctor team. Established in 1950, the practice has served pets, livestock and their owners throughout Park County for more than 70 years, with a strong focus on accessible care, lasting client relationships and involvement within the local community. The opportunity is open to veterinarians at all experience levels and can be tailored towards either mixed animal medicine or an exclusively small animal caseload, depending on your interests.

Working Hours / Rota
The position can be structured around your clinical interests, with doctors interested in surgery typically having one dedicated surgery day each week alongside three to four appointment days. Alternatively, the schedule can consist primarily of appointments, with standard appointments booked for 30 minutes. For mixed animal veterinarians, large animal cases are generally incorporated throughout the working day rather than being assigned to a dedicated ambulatory day, with caseload varying seasonally. The hospital is closed at weekends, although doctors share an after-hours on-call rota, so willingness to participate in this alongside the other veterinarians is required.

Role Description and Responsibilities
As an Associate Veterinarian, you'll have considerable flexibility to build a caseload around the areas of medicine you enjoy. Small animal doctors can focus exclusively on companion animal medicine, while those interested in mixed practice can work with dogs and cats alongside cattle, equine and other livestock cases. The hospital provides preventative medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery, reproductive services, urgent and emergency care, with more advanced procedures including fracture repairs, lateral suture CCL repairs, patellar groove procedures and a broad range of abdominal surgeries. The team also provides shockwave therapy and is interested in further developing areas such as regenerative medicine, acupuncture and chiropractic care. New graduates are welcome, as are experienced veterinarians looking for clinical autonomy and the opportunity to expand their interests.

Practice Details
The hospital has three exam rooms, a dedicated dental room, a surgical suite with two tables and anaesthetic machines, and a heated indoor barn equipped with a cattle chute and equine stocks. Equipment includes digital radiography, two portable ultrasound units, full IDEXX in-house laboratory capabilities, Zoetis Imagyst, tonometry, an NIBP unit, shockwave therapy, a Terafloat system for equine dentistry and a portable Silencer chute for ranch calls. The practice currently combines Cornerstone for scheduling and invoicing with paper medical notes, with plans to transition to fully digital records at the beginning of 2027. You'll join three veterinarians within a close-knit, locally owned hospital that combines the relationships and accessibility of a small-town general practice with a broader range of advanced, urgent and emergency services. Future practice ownership may also be an option for the right veterinarian.

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
