Role Summary

The Registered Nurse performs independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in accordance with state Board of Nursing standards and established hospital policies. The role focuses on delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care across all phases of the nursing process.

‍⚕️ Core Responsibilities

Nursing Process (Primary Function)

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care
• Continuously collect and interpret patient health data
• Monitor and reassess patient condition throughout care delivery

Clinical Care & Treatment

• Provide supportive and restorative therapies to promote patient well-being
• Execute delegated medical functions within scope of practice
• Refer patients for further evaluation or specialized treatment when needed
• Review and monitor ongoing treatment and therapy plans

Patient Education & Counseling

• Provide health teaching and counseling to patients and families
• Support understanding of treatment plans and health conditions
• Promote patient engagement in care decisions

Documentation & Resource Utilization

• Document all care accurately per hospital and regulatory standards
• Utilize clinical resources to support safe and effective care delivery

Professional Standards

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health
• Follow established service behavior standards
• Adhere to state Board of Nursing scope and accepted practice guidelines

Additional Responsibilities & Flexibility

• Perform additional duties as assigned
• May be required to float to other departments within competency
• May be required to participate in on-call assignments during scheduled shifts
