About the Role

We’re hiring an Automotive Technician (Diagnostics & Fleet Repair) to support the readiness of autonomous vehicle fleets in San Francisco. This is a hands-on, engineering-focused technician role where you will perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs to ensure vehicles are safe, road-ready, and prepared for testing and demonstration.

This role is best suited for experienced technicians with recent, hands-on diagnostics and repair experience . Candidates with primarily basic service or non-automotive backgrounds will not be considered.

What You’ll Do

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs across fleet vehicles
• Configure, set up, and sign off on vehicles for safe on-road operation
• Coordinate repairs from diagnosis through resolution
• Escalate complex issues to engineering teams when needed
• Develop diagnostic test plans to support troubleshooting
• Maintain accurate service records and field reports
• Support shop operations, including tools, workspace, and parts organization
• Partner closely with the Shop Foreman to ensure fleet readiness
• Travel locally as needed to support fleet operations

Required Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of recent hands-on automotive technician experience (REQUIRED)
• Strong diagnostics and repair experience (not just oil changes or basic service)
• Experience using diagnostic tools, electrical systems, and troubleshooting methods
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass background check, MVR check, and drug screen
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
• Work Environment & Schedule
• Onsite in San Francisco, CA
• Full-time role supporting a 24/7 operation
• Must be open to 2nd and 3rd shift schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Local travel required; occasional national travel may be required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in fleet, high-volume, or engineering-focused environments
• Knowledge of CAN systems, wiring diagrams, or electrical diagnostics
• Experience working in automotive labs (dyno, battery, or testing environments)
• Technical trade school certification or Associate Degree in automotive repair
• Experience towing trailers or transporting vehicles

Additional Requirements

• Forklift certification required OR ability to obtain quickly
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and safety awareness
• Ability to manage multiple repair priorities in a fast-paced environment

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay: $46–$50 per hour
