JOB SUMMARY

The Veterinary Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the veterinary team, ensuring efficient program execution, high-quality client service, and compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Senior Veterinary Manager, this role focuses on leading people, managing processes, and supporting the successful delivery of hands-on educational programs.

The Veterinary Manager provides direct supervision and development of veterinary staff, training, coaching, performance management, and day-to-day operational oversight. This position is responsible for implementing established procedures, maintaining operational consistency, supporting laboratory and event planning, coordinating resources, and ensuring the veterinary team is prepared to deliver exceptional educational experiences.

Working closely with instructors, clients, and internal departments, the Veterinary Manager oversees veterinary operations during programs, resolves operational issues, promotes cross-team collaboration, and ensures compliance with animal welfare, safety, and regulatory requirements. This role serves as the primary operational leader for the veterinary team, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement while supporting the direction established by the Senior Veterinary Manager.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science, Animal Health, Business Administration, or a related field; or an Associate’s degree with significant related experience.
  • Current and valid Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) certification or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification in the state of Nevada.
  • Continuing education in veterinary management or leadership is highly desirable.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in veterinary practice, procedures, and medicine, including supervisory or management roles.
  • Proven experience in event planning, conference coordination, or program management, preferably within a non-profit or education-focused environment.
  • Experience in staff recruitment, training, performance management, and team development.
  • Strong background in budgeting, resource allocation, and operational oversight.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities to resolve operational challenges efficiently.
  • Event Management: Expertise in coordinating veterinary-focused events, including scheduling, resource management, and client interaction.
  • Process Improvement: Proactive in researching and implementing innovations to enhance operational efficiency and service quality.
  • Organization: Excellent time management and organizational skills to oversee multiple programs and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Team Building : Ability to inspire and cultivate a positive and productive team environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with veterinary software, inventory management systems, and standard office applications.
  • Customer Focus: Demonstrates passion for client satisfaction and the delivery of exceptional services to stakeholders.
  • Professionalism: Maintains composure and professionalism under pressure, representing the organization positively at all times.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES  

Managerial Leadership & Team Building

  • Receive event timelines, priorities, and operational updates from Animal Health leadership and effectively communicate expectations, deadlines, and assignments to veterinary staff, volunteers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful event execution.
  • Stay updated with veterinary medicine advancements, the veterinary community, and non-profit industry trends; participate in relevant associations (e.g., AVMA).
  • Manage and oversee direct reports, ensuring accountability for performance and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Clinical Operations and Senior Veterinary Manager to prepare and deliver performance evaluations, coaching, and development plans for veterinary staff.
  • Provide training opportunities for department staff and ensure attendance at required sessions.
  • Conduct interviews for open positions to ensure appropriate candidates are selected.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with Animal Health team members to provide coaching, support professional development, address concerns, and promote engagement, accountability, and open communication.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new Animal Health team members, ensuring standardized training, timely completion of onboarding milestones, and ongoing monitoring of competencies to support successful integration and long-term performance.
  • Provide oversight of the Veterinary Supervisor's development of staff schedules and completion of payroll, ensuring staffing levels, labor utilization, and payroll practices align with operational needs and organizational policies.
  • Conduct facility walkthroughs and lead tours with vendors and clients, as needed.

Event Planning & Self-Generated (SG) Courses:

  • Execute on-site veterinary operations for educational events, ensuring appropriate staffing, resource coordination, and an exceptional experience for attendees, sponsors, instructors, and staff.
  • Oversee event operations by assigning daily staff responsibilities, allocating resources, resolving operational issues, and monitoring workflow to ensure successful event execution.
  • Ensure quality service and customer satisfaction standards are met during all events.

Rental Management:

  • Attend client meetings, as needed, to support event planning and ensure client requirements are clearly understood and communicated to the veterinary team.
  • Enter event details into the management system, as needed, ensuring information is accurate and coordinated with the clinical and ancillary teams.
  • Be present onsite during rental events to ensure smooth operations and meet client satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Animal Health clients, serving as a confident on-site point of contact to ensure an exceptional client experience and foster long-term partnerships and repeat business.

Advanced Clinical Hands-On Labs (AC HOL):

  • Execute on-site veterinary operations for Animal Health Hands-On Laboratories (HOLs) in Las Vegas, ensuring staffing, resources, and daily operations are coordinated to support successful event execution.
  • Be present onsite during AC HOL events to ensure seamless execution.

Operational Oversight & Facility Maintenance:

  • Ensure all aspects of the facility are maintained to meet high cleanliness and safety standards. 
  • Work in collaboration with the Veterinary Supervisor to monitor inventory levels and ensure timely ordering of medical, laboratory, and cleaning supplies to support daily operations and upcoming educational programs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal safety regulations, including maintaining controlled substance logs in adherence to VG and DEA policies.

Health & Safety Management:

  • Provide health and safety training to staff and enforce safety standards.
  • Establish and maintain a safe and sanitary environment for employees, attendees, and clients.

Professional Development & Relationship Building:

  • Represent the organization positively in all interactions with staff, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Foster relationships with staff, board members, and clients while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Maintain technical knowledge and professional growth through ongoing education and engagement in professional networks.

Additional Duties:

  • Regularly collaborate with leadership to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develop an understanding of departmental budgets, forecasting, and resource planning to ensure daily operations align with organizational goals and operational priorities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Vision and Hearing

  • Close vision required to see computer monitors, read documents, and operate copy and fax machines.
  • Distance vision is required to drive an automobile if driving is a requirement of the job.

Work Environment

  • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled.
  • Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise levels as found in a business office with computer printers, households with TVs and dishwashers, and driving in light traffic.

  Other Requirements:

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed, to support events and programs.
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel, if required.
