Wabtec is now hiring CNC machinists in Duncan, SC. Pay rate: $22.00 – $28.00 per hour ($1 2nd shift differential | $1.25 3rd shift differential). Shifts: 2nd shift | 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM, 3rd shift | 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, weekends | 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM Friday – Sunday (paid for 40 hours). Precision isn't optional. It's who you are. CNC machinist skills and requirements: Associate degree in machine tool technology preferred, or equivalent experience. High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 5 years of CNC machining experience. Strong knowledge of shop math, including trigonometry and the Pythagorean theorem. Ability to read complex blueprints, tool prints, and sketches. Experience with GD&T, inspection methods, and precision tolerances. Knowledge of rigging, crane/hoist safety, and safe material handling practices. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

How you'll spend your day: Perform complete machine setup within standard production times. Operate multiple CNC machine tools simultaneously. Navigate FANUC controls, including wear and geometry offsets. Edit CNC programs and troubleshoot machining issues quickly. Use Renishaw probing systems for setup and measurement functions. Set up and operate CMM (coordinate measuring machine) equipment. Inspect finished parts using gauges and blueprints to ensure quality standards. Complete first article inspections (FAI) and record SPC data. Perform TPM equipment checks and maintain daily 5S standards. Support continuous improvement projects such as Kaizen, SMED, and fixture design.
