Building Supervisor

JOB INFORMATION See NOTES below for future wage increases and/or additional compensation opportunities. Building Supervisor positions supervise and assign other facility maintenance and custodial personnel; inspect semi-skilled repair and custodial work; review and respond to complaints and requests from occupants or tenants regarding facility maintenance; maintain liaison with service contractors, vendors and City trades personnel; coordinate the set‑up and arrangement of facilities for meetings and special events; maintain facility staffing and maintenance budgets; keep records; train and rate the work of subordinates; and perform other duties as assigned. Notes Employees in job classifications represented by Municipal Employees Association (MEA) are scheduled to receive the following general wage increases: 3.5% effective 7/1/27 2% effective 7/1/28 2% effective 1/1/29 Eligible benefitted employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS). Some Building Supervisor positions may require bilingual communication skills for which they may receive additional pay. Building Supervisor employees may be required to be on standby status, extended period of night, or unusual shift work, for which they may receive 5% additional pay. Building Supervisor employees working in the Police Department meet strict security regulations. Therefore, in addition to the standard employment DOJ records check, candidates may be required to submit a comprehensive Background Investigation Package and successfully complete a thorough backgrounds check, which may include a polygraph examination. Minimum Requirements You must meet the following requirements on the date you apply, unless otherwise indicated. EXPERIENCE: Three years of full-time experience performing building repair and maintenance work in a public or commercial facility requiring on-going, regular, semi-skilled carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and custodial work. Note City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered. LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of hire.
