Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Description Provide technical, supervisory, and administrative support to the Golf Course Superintendent while managing a team and ensuring that the resort’s outdoor spaces align with high-quality standards while maintaining environmental stewardship. Responsibilities Support Golf Maintenance team members to meet production and quality standards set by the Golf Course Superintendent and Temecula Creek Inn. Coordinate departmental needs with vendors, including purchasing, inventory, and scheduling of maintenance procedures. Plan, coordinate, and oversee landscaping and horticultural operations across the golf resort, including gardens, pathways, water features, and non‑play areas. Lead and supervise landscaping staff, providing training, scheduling, performance management, and ensuring a high level of morale and productivity. Oversee budgets, purchasing, and inventory management for landscaping materials and equipment. Implement multi‑year/season garden plans and food/crop production goals for on‑site culinary use. Perform technical horticultural or agronomic tests and evaluations as directed. Maintain accurate administrative and record‑keeping data for the Golf Course Superintendent, including purchase orders, invoices, and employee time cards. Assist in preparation of annual capital expenditure and operating budgets and in planning the day‑to‑day maintenance schedule. Conduct departmental safety training for new Golf Maintenance employees and perform safety meetings, monthly. Respond to all guest requests in a timely and professional manner. Promote and comply with all Temecula Creek Inn policies and procedures. Immediately report all suspicious occurrences and hazardous conditions. Maintain cleanliness and safety of work areas at all times, ensuring safe operation of all power‑driven machinery. Practice safe work habits to avoid injury to self and others. Ensure compliance with company and departmental safety rules, occupational safety and health regulations (OSHA, SB198, local Dept. of Health, etc.). Attend all mandatory meetings and perform other tasks including cross‑training as directed. Requirements Knowledge & Education Minimum two years of experience in golf course maintenance. English fluency required; Spanish helpful. Thorough knowledge of turf varieties, maintenance practices, safe application of pesticides, fertilizers, and soil chemistry. Ability to identify common turf diseases, insects, and weeds. California Qualified Applicator’s license required. Familiarity with OSHA, SB198, local Department of Health regulations, and current hazardous substances laws. Knowledge of IT systems for scheduling and record‑keeping preferred. Skills Demonstrated ability to train staff and provide first‑class customer service. Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and safety‑mindful. Detail oriented, highly self‑motivated, and able to manage staff while maintaining morale. Ability to work well under pressure and schedule long, irregular hours. Physical Demands Stand/walk approx. 80% of shift; sit in meetings 30% of shift. Handle and move objects up to 80 lbs over short distances. Bend, stoop, reach, lift routine tasks; operate power‑driven machinery. Withstand prolonged sun exposure and moderate use of stairs daily. Temecula Creek Inn is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/V/D.
