Adjunct Clinical Faculty - Practical Nursing, Maternity Department: Nursing PN Location: Framingham Position Summary: MassBay Community College seeks qualified part‑time instructors in the Practical Nursing Program for the Summer semesters. The practical nursing clinical course covers nursing care of clients in the labor and delivery units. The instructor must have clinical experience, communicate effectively, assess students objectively, and work as part of a team. The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational community, have a desire and ability to serve a diverse student population, and is expected to commit to excellence in teaching, learning, collaboration, and professional development. Adjunct faculty deliver course materials in a learner‑centered environment that engages students, communicate consistently with students, faculty, and administrators, and respond to communications within 24 hours. The faculty member is responsible for managing the course through timely grading, providing substantial feedback, completing clinical evaluations, attendance, and grades. Key Responsibilities and Duties Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and awareness of new developments in the field Integrate didactic content into students’ clinical assignments Communicate with course faculty regularly to track student progress or to develop performance‑improvement plans to support learning Conduct the mid‑semester and final clinical evaluations Assign, supervise, plan experiences, and evaluate students in practice learning environments based on course and program student learning outcomes Provide support, guidance, and instruction on all aspects of patient care while at the clinical facility or laboratory classroom Demonstrate procedures and patient care in clinical or laboratory nursing settings Provide feedback to the assistant dean of nursing, program director, and clinical placement coordinator on the appropriateness of the health‑care agency as a teaching/learning environment Provide feedback to course faculty on student preparedness regarding curriculum Attend course‑specific orientation on campus with the Assistant Dean of Nursing and course faculty Participate in clinical faculty mentoring as identified by the Assistant Dean of Nursing and course faculty Participate in the program’s continuous improvement efforts, including BORN and ACEN requirements Maintain appropriate paperwork and documentation required by the program All other duties may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary. Required Qualifications Current unencumbered Massachusetts RN license Recent clinical practice in labor and delivery Excellent written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body Clinical teaching experience Preferred Qualifications Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of affirmative action Experience working in a community college or similar environment Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need Additional Information Salary Range: $72.64 - 82.83 DCE Per Credit Position Type: DCE-Clinical Instructor Application Deadline: Open until filled To Apply: Please include a letter of interest and resume with your online application Hiring is subject to state appropriation funding.
