Assistant Project Manager - Monorail & Transportation

This position supports the delivery of large-scale transportation projects, including monorail systems, guideways, stations, and related structural elements. The Assistant Project Manager/Project Engineer works under the guidance of the Project Manager to perform structural engineering, coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, support project execution, and develop project management competencies. This role is designed for engineers who are ready to grow into a Project manager position through increased responsibility for project coordination, budgeting, scheduling, quality management, and client interaction. 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering required
• Master’s degree (Structural Engineering) preferred
• Minimum 3 years of relevant structural engineering experience

Certifications (Preferred unless noted)

• Engineering-in-Training (EIT) FE (or equivalent)
• Professional Engineer (PE) License 
• PMP or CAPM

Key Responsibilities

• Perform structural design analysis of reinforced concrete transportation structures, including precast post-tensioned superstructures and concrete substructures.
• Perform and support QA/QC reviews of calculations, plans, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
• Apply international design standards and codes, including ACI, AASHTO, Eurocode, and project specific requirements.
• Coordinate engineering activities across structural, civil, geotechnical, architectural, systems, and construction disciplines. 
• Review submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentation. 
• Prepare meeting agendas, facilitate project coordination meetings, and document meeting minutes.
• Track project action items, RFIs, NCR’s, deliverables, and design review comments.
• Coordinate project activities among multinational design teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders. 
• Support project documentation, reporting, and document control processes.
• Assist with project schedule updates and process tracking. 
• Support proposal preparation, including scope development, fee estimates, schedules, and technical narratives.  
• Monitor Project budgets, schedules, resource utilization, and project risks. 
• Assist with change management processes and project forecasting. 
• Participate in time sheet reviews, workload planning, and project performance tracking. 
• Support implementation of Innova quality management and ISO 9001 procedures. 
• Assist with monorail guideway alignment reviews and column placement coordination. 
• Support alignment scheduling and submittal timeline management. 
• Identify project risks and development mitigation strategies. 
• Mentor junior engineers, designers, and drafters. 
• Participate in formal project management training and leadership activities.
• Develop effective relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders. 
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practices. 
• Participate in professional development, technical training, and industry events. 
• Prepare for progression into Project Manager role with increasing project ownership and leadership responsibilities.

Technical Skills

• Structural analysis software including SAP2000, SOFiSTiK, CSI Bridge, SP-Column, and MIDAS.  
• Familiarity with scheduling and project management software.  
• Ability to learn and utilize new engineering technologies and software tools.
