Patient Service Representative

Job Overview The Patient Service Representative (PSR) serves as the first point of contact between Intermountain Health and patients, delivering exceptional customer and patient satisfaction through collaborative relationships with patients and clinicians. Key Details Pay: $18.31 - $23.80 per hour, depending on experience. Full‑time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 06:45–17:00. No weekends or Intermountain holidays. Location: Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah. Essential Functions / Responsibilities Provide courteous and professional interactions with patients over the phone, in person, or via secure messaging. Resolve patient needs related to intake and care by identifying and addressing issues efficiently. Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR). Schedule patient appointments for visits, procedures, diagnostic tests, referrals, and consultations. Register patients by confirming, entering, or updating demographic data on the registration system. Follow procedures for patient identification, including obtaining insurance cards, ID, and required signatures. Verify insurance information to coordinate benefits and process pre‑certifications or prior authorizations. Assist patients in completing forms to meet regulatory and billing requirements before clinical care. Scan and manage paperwork, educate patients on financial assistance, and proactively request payments for current and past services. Receive and process payments following established payment procedures. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of policies, procedures, and system updates through regular review of emails, dashboards, and meetings. Skills Professional etiquette and communication. Basic computer skills in word processing and data entry. Professional manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with patients and caregivers to achieve high satisfaction. Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and PHI. Preferred Qualifications One year of customer service experience with in‑person and phone interactions. Billing and collections experience. Computer literacy in EMR systems and related software. High school diploma or GED (preferred). Multilingual ability. Physical Requirements Ongoing need to see and read information, documents, and monitors; assess customer needs; communicate verbally and listen effectively; use manual dexterity for complex supplies and equipment; frequent computer use; standing for long periods; occasional lifting of supplies; assist patients in and out of the clinic.
