Chief Development Officer

Primary Function The Chief Development Officer's(CDO) leads all aspects of the organization's fundraising and revenue development strategy, including contributed income, event revenue, planned giving, and consulting initiatives. The CDO sets department direction, owns the most consequential external relationships, and champions the Resource Development team's work to organizational leadership and the board. Essential Functions Develop, execute, oversee and maintain a comprehensive development plan (fundraising income, annual fund, special events, business memberships, planned giving and other sources of contributed income) on an annual basis. Develop all financial budgets for annual fund, event sponsorships, and other gifts including revenue and expenses. Monitor and meet budget goals. Set and monitor annual revenue goals in partnership with the CEO; own the P2G (Pipeline to Goal) dashboard as the department's single source of truth on progress. In cooperation with the President and CEO and the board of directors, own all major donor and anchor sponsor relationships not held by the CEO; personally make all opening asks at the highest giving levels. Leadership and Team Management Supervise and develop the Director of Development Operations and the Manager of Development; conduct quarterly performance reviews with a development conversation embedded in each. Build a cross-trained team where every function is documented, owned, and survivable if a team member is unavailable. Lead annual FY budget and goal-setting process with the full Resource Development team Attend event committee meetings as a participant and relationship presence throughout both event cycles. Own and run all Resource Development Committee meetings; present all evaluation summaries and strategic recommendations to the RD Committee. Organizational Leadership Serve as a member of the Leadership Team; provide reports, counsel, and strategic planning to support the CEO and board. Support committee chairs to present quarterly fundraising reports to the board; represent RD at board meetings as assigned. Communicate with key donors and partners through various channels including consultation, training, facilitation, publications and community engagement. Research, develop and fulfill key sections of the overall organizational strategic plan, operational plans and other organizational objectives in cooperation with board of directors and other leadership. Administration and Other Duties In cooperation with executive leadership, board of directors and committees, manage, follow and update policies and procedures pertaining to the operational needs of the Center, including providing reports as necessary to President and CEO and various committees. Act as staff liaison for the Resource Development Committee and other committees as assigned. Maintain professionalism, organizational standards and confidentiality as a representative of the Center to donors, members and other key stakeholders. Ability to travel occasionally throughout the state and outside of Oklahoma as needed. Provide guidance and expertise to nonprofits through helplines, informal consultation, training and consulting projects, community events and other channels as needed. Engage in professional development activities such as training, conferences, research and coaching. TASKS & ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP: Maintaining the strictest of confidentiality at all times. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs. Other duties may be assigned by the President & CEO. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. In lieu of a degree, job experience will be accepted with approval of the President and CEO. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) or Certificate in Fundraising Management (CFRM) a plus but not required. Certified Nonprofit Executive (CNE) a plus but not required. Exemplary knowledge of technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, Database Technology, Donor Database CRM, Mobile Computing, etc. Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, presentation). Relationship management and professionalism.
