Job Overview A law firm seeks a Patent Attorney in Buffalo, New York. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 4 years of experience in intellectual property, specifically in patent preparation and prosecution. Recent law school graduates with prior work experience as a patent agent will also be considered. Duties Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in various engineering disciplines. Prepare responses to USPTO Office Actions and manage examiner interviews. Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity analysis. Stay current on patent law developments and emerging technologies. Communicate effectively with inventors, in-house counsel, and foreign associates. Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development efforts. Requirements Undergraduate degree (or higher) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, computer engineering, or a related field. Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Strong academic credentials. Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with other practice areas. Education Undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline. Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Certifications Registration with the USPTO. Skills Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
