This is a rare opportunity to lead technology behind a global client platform that powers the client facing systems for corporate actions and securities services for some of the world's largest institutional clients.You will drive a portfolio of high-visibility, strategic initiatives — from retiring legacy systems under regulatory commitments, to onboarding marquee clients, to accelerating a global platform migration. If you are energized by building high-performing teams, delivering at scale in a regulated environment, and shaping how modern engineering is done, we want to talk to you.ResponsibilitiesBuild & Inspire High-Performing TeamsLead, mentor, and grow multiple multidisciplinary teams — Java backend engineers, web frontend developers, DevOps/SRE, and database specialists.Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, ownership, and continuous learning.Own the full people-leadership agenda: hiring top talent, performance management, skill development, career growth, and healthy team dynamics.Champion an AI-Native Engineering CultureSet the vision and lead the adoption of GenAI coding agents to accelerate development, testing, code review, and documentation.Continuously evaluate emerging AI tooling, establish responsible-use best practices, and measure productivity impact.Motivate engineers to embrace AI-augmented workflows and reimagine how software is built.Define & Drive Technical StrategyEstablish a clear technical vision and roadmap built on cloud-native architecture — Kubernetes, containerization, and modern CI/CD.Champion engineering best practices across software development, automated testing, and cloud-native deployment.Integrate deep applications-development expertise with the broader technology function to achieve firm-wide goals.Deliver Strategic, High-Stakes InitiativesYou will own the successful delivery of a portfolio of critical, business-defining programs.Drive accelerated client migration and user adoption, including training enablement and hands-on support.Accelerate the integration with core custody asset servicing systems, managing complex cross-global dependencies with minimal downtime.Oversee Execution, Infrastructure & DeliveryManage the full lifecycle of multiple concurrent projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.Oversee a robust, scalable Kubernetes-based infrastructure ensuring high availability, performance, and security for a global platform.Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment.Prepare and present comprehensive project reviews to senior management, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.Manage Risk & Ensure Regulatory ComplianceMaintain a strong focus on regulatory compliance within the Financial Services Custody domain.Appropriately assess risk in business decisions, safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and its assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations; adhering to Policy; applying sound ethical judgment; and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.Proactively identify and mitigate technical and delivery risks early in the lifecycle.Collaborate & Influence Across the EnterprisePartner closely with Operations and Product stakeholders — co-location is essential for real-time problem-solving, dependency management, and time-sensitive delivery on a global platform.Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions and communicate with external parties as needed.Lead local staff forums and act as a connective leader across geographically dispersed teams.Qualifications10+ years of software development experience, with significant time in Financial Services.Deep, hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, React and related frameworks.Extensive experience with Kubernetes, Docker and CI/CD pipelines.Strong knowledge of Linux, Oracle/Mongodb database development, and cloud platforms.Proven track record building and managing modern web portals (front-end and back-end).Demonstrated experience managing multiple teams / global technology teams and delivering large-scale, complex programs.Familiarity with GenAI concepts and coding agents and their application to the software development lifecycle.Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills; clear and concise written and verbal communication.Preferred / DifferentiatorsDirect experience in Custody, Securities Services, or Corporate Actions.Experience delivering under regulatory commitments (e.g., consent orders) and navigating compliance requirements.Hands-on experience embedding AI coding agents into engineering workflows and measuring their impact.Experience leading client onboarding, platform migrations, or new-market/branch launches.EducationBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field required.Master's degree preferred.
