Residential Faculty - Public Safety Administration Job ID: 322752 Location: Phoenix College Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Salary Range $51,774 - $99,673/annually, DOE Grade 001 Work Calendar 9 Months Job Summary Phoenix College (PC) is seeking a faculty member to teach primarily in the Public Safety Administration (PSA) bachelor's program and support instruction in Administration of Justice Studies (AJS). Responsibilities include advising and assessing students in in‑person, hybrid, and online formats, in alignment with Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) and college policies. The faculty member will also serve as a liaison with criminal justice agencies, public safety organizations, and law enforcement partners, as directed by the Department Chair and Program Directors. Additional responsibilities include developing and updating curriculum for PSA and AJS courses and maintaining current knowledge of industry trends to support high‑quality instruction. This position in the Public Safety and Law Department is anticipated to begin in Fall 2026. Essential Functions Deliver instruction to students with varied backgrounds and commitments in classroom and online settings using a range of instructional strategies in PSA and AJS courses. Design syllabi, curriculum, and instructional materials that apply innovative, learning‑centered practices to support student engagement, retention, and achievement. Integrate instructional technology and alternative delivery methods, including learning communities, summer courses, hybrid, and online formats; provide academic support to students in person and virtually via office hours. Fulfill required departmental office hours and accountability expectations. Participate in college and departmental assessment processes, including continuous evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning. Maintain current subject‑matter expertise through ongoing professional development and contribute to the college's academic mission through active participation in departmental, campus, and district committees, meetings, and initiatives. Minimum Qualifications Public Safety Administration | Occupational Five (5) years of occupational experience in the field to be taught which include but are not limited to: Criminalistics, Administration of Justice Studies, Criminal Justice, Criminology, Legal Studies, Justice Studies, Public Safety Administration, Law and Policy, Police Science. OR Three (3) years of occupational experience in the field to be taught and a Bachelor's degree or higher. OR A Master's degree or higher in the teaching field. OR A Master's degree or higher in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field. OR A Master's degree or higher in any field with a combination of 24 upper‑division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field. Desired Qualifications Master's Degree or higher in Criminalistics, Administration of Justice, Public Safety Administration, or Law. Recent, within five (5) years, occupational experience in PSA, CJ, AJS, Law, or related fields as defined in the minimum qualifications. Recent, within three (3) years, teaching experience in PSA, CJ, or AJS, in online, hybrid, or in‑person setting. Experience developing courses and teaching using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, etc.). Experience developing and/or teaching hybrid (virtual/in‑person) courses. Provide at least three examples of courses with details of what was developed and taught. Experience supporting students from varied backgrounds, including first‑generation college students and those from historically underserved groups (e.g., racial/ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals, students with disabilities, or foster care). Please indicate the populations you have worked with. Experience working with peers in a collaborative environment to support student engagement in the fields of Administration of Justice, Law, or Public Safety. Provide examples. One (1) year of full‑time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two (2) years.
