Pay Grade: 11 

Reports To: Director of Dining Services

Salary:  $60,000 - $70,000

Other Forms of Compensation : Medical, Dental & Vision insurance, 401K, PTO

Job Summary

Filling every occasion with great food and service! We are currently adding a Catering Manager for our premiere catering department at the University of Pittsburgh. Our Catering Manager will be responsible for developing and driving catering solutions to meet our customer needs, while working closely with the Executive Chef on menu development. Events encompass a diverse spectrum, spanning from coffee services to exclusive VIP dining occasions to Presidential events, hosted both on-campus and off-campus. This role will also provide unique services for campus weddings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

• Supervises all catering events. 
• Involved in catering events operations, including logistics, quality improvement, sanitation, and all facility-related activities.   
• Works with the Chef in creating menus. 
• Trains catering associates in service techniques, menu presentation, and customer service. 
• Tracks and monitors the labor and food cost for each event. 
• Communicates on various levels to include management, client, customer and associate levels; maintains excellent client relationships. 
• Assists in the responsibility for all foodservice-related activities. 
• Performs other duties as assigned.   

• Provided attentive guest service during plated meals, buffets, and cocktail receptions

• Supervised catering staff during wedding events, ensuring adherence to service standards and timelines

• Worked closely with clients, planners, and vendors to deliver personalized wedding experiences

• Night and weekend schedule
• Experience leading a catering team
• Experience leading wedding events
• Bartending and bar management experience 

Qualifications 

• 2 years of food service experience including 1 year at the management level. 
• Minimum 1 to 3 years management/supervisory experience.
• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations. 
• Catering experience is required. 
• Prior bartending knowledge and experience catering for weddings is highly preferred.
• Some knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Financial, budgetary, accounting, and computational skills.
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the internet.
• ServSafe® and RAMP Certified.
