Minimum Starting Salary is the least amount of pay for this position, and an internal promotion will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop training and mentoring for mid to upper-level leadership at all detention centers. Ensure training content adheres to laws, rules, and policies and is legally defensible. Create new content for courses and programs as directed. Revise course and program content to meet compliance and/or the needs of the detention centers and agency. Implement effective course and program evaluation strategies and instruments. Conduct job task analyses. Identify and monitor training and mentoring needs in all detention centers, and implement mentoring training programs, policies, and procedures to fulfill those needs. Plan, coordinate, and present at statewide and regional conferences, meetings, and workshops with trainers, subject matter experts and juvenile justice staff. Confere with appropriate personnel to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems and procedures. Participate in related special projects and workgroups. Maintain current knowledge of developments in methods, strategies, etc., and emerging technologies in instructional systems design through research and collaboration with peers throughout the state and nationally. Adhere to all rules and policies and implement continuous quality and process improvement efforts. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Ability to coordinate a consultative program designed to resolve managerial and operational problems. Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of tasks. Effective communication and information conveyance. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others. Understanding and applying applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to operational and management analysis activities. Organizing data into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials. Collecting, evaluating, and analyzing data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, and document work related to operational and management practices improvement. Conducting fact‑finding research. Working independently. Problem‑solving and decision making. Traveling to all regions to fulfill training duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

A bachelor’s degree with a major in criminal justice or three years of professional experience in juvenile justice.
