VP, Group Director — Client Strategy & Growth
$175k - $210kJustworks, Inc.
Employment type Full-time employee Department Client Strategy Work location Marina del Rey, CA Compensation $175,000 – $210,000 annually Final compensation will depend on the location and level at which the candidate is hired About this job The Role Every agency says it connects media to business outcomes. Almost none of them staff for it. The VP, Group Director is the person at Juice who makes that connection real — and is accountable when it isn't. You own a portfolio of our most significant client relationships, the revenue attached to them, and the cross-functional teams that deliver against them. You report to the Chief Client Officer / President and sit on the leadership group that decides where this agency goes next. This is a business leadership role that runs through media. You are expected to understand your clients' economics — margin structure, growth thesis, category pressure, what their board is asking them — well enough that your recommendations arrive as business arguments, not media plans. What this role is not: It is not senior account management. It is not carrying a deck someone else built into a room someone else booked. If the strategy is wrong, it is yours. If the number is missed, it is yours. If the blend isn't working, you are the one who takes it apart and rebuilds it. What You Own Six areas of accountability. The first one is the job; the rest are how it gets done. Business fluency — media as a business lever. The core of the role. We are accountable to the client's business, not to our own dashboard. Know each client's business model, unit economics and competitive position well enough to challenge the brief they gave you. Translate media performance into the outcomes their leadership actually manages to — revenue, contribution margin, CAC, LTV, share — and translate those goals back into media decisions. Set the measurement architecture with Data Science and Analytics: what we are accountable for, how we will prove it, and what we do when the answer is bad. Own the narrative in the QBR, the board readout and the difficult call. Same story, same numbers, no smoothing. Portfolio ownership and growth. Carry revenue accountability for your group — forecasting, profitability, scope discipline, and staffing models that actually hold. Grow existing relationships from project scopes into embedded, business-led partnerships. Lead new business for the group: pitch strategy, story architecture, and the room itself. Negotiate scopes and commercial terms with the confidence to walk away from a bad fit. Cross-functional leadership. Juice does not have channel silos with a relationship manager on top. It has one press. You run it. Direct the full delivery team across Strategy, Investment, Data Science, Analytics and Creative. Not coordinate — direct. Hold the seams. Where disciplines hand off is where clients lose trust; you are accountable for the integration, not for your slice of it. Be the escalation point in both directions — the person the client calls, and the person the internal team trusts to carry the truth back. Resolve conflicts between disciplines with a decision, not another meeting. The blend — the investment decisions. You are not building the plan. You own what it is designed to do, and you defend it. Define budget, channel mix and growth forecast across linear, streaming, digital, social and any other channel — before a dollar is committed. Make the trade-offs: what gets funded, what gets cut, and what we stop doing because the data says it isn't working. Set what the mix has to deliver, and hold the plan to it. When the blend is wrong, you say so before the client does. Rule on the calls that have no clean answer — reach against efficiency, brand against capture, test budget against proven spend. Set the strategic intent Investment executes against, and make sure it survives planning, buying and optimization intact. Push past the safe answer. Consensus plans deliver consensus results. AI fluency — adopt and shape. Adopt early and bring your teams with you — fluency in how they plan, report and think, and a clear line on where human judgment stays non-negotiable. Help shape what Juice builds next. You see where the time goes; that view should inform the tools and agents we invest in. Talent and standard-setting. Lead and develop Directors and Sr. Managers. Build the bench that eventually replaces you. Set the communication standard: clear, concise, strategically framed, written and verbal, every time. Hire for craft and character. Sharp knives only. How We Work Eight values, all rooted in how a great juice gets made — and how great performance media gets delivered. We are juicers. You are accountable for the single output, never for your slice of it. Sharp knives only. Every brief that touches you should leave sharper than it arrived. No additives. Transparent buying, clear attribution, honest numbers — including the ones that cost us something. Try new combinations. The safe plan is rarely the right one. Bring the blend nobody has made yet. Stay thirsty. A good quarter is not a finished job. Read the season. You don't run last quarter's recipe on this quarter's brief, or this quarter's market. Waste nothing. Every dollar accounted for. Every failure explained — precisely, not generally. Taste is the truth. We measure you by results, not by the elegance of the plan. What You Bring Experience. 12+ years in media, integrated marketing or growth strategy, including four or more leading client portfolios and multi-disciplinary teams inside an agency or consultancy. Commercial. Demonstrated revenue or P&L ownership — forecasting, profitability, and organic growth delivered against a number you were held to. Media. Deep omnichannel expertise across traditional and digital, with real fluency in channel interaction — what TV does to search, what CTV does to social CAC — not just channel-level performance. Quantitative. Comfortable with MMM, incrementality testing and attribution. Able to sit inside the data and come out with a sentence a CFO can act on. Cross-functional. Proven ability to lead teams you don't line-manage, and to make decisions that stick across disciplines. AI. Demonstrated AI fluency plus a track record of driving adoption — not personal usage, but changing how a team works. Presence. Executive presence with C-suite and founder audiences. Can hold a difficult room without softening the truth. Baseline. Bachelor's degree. Excel / Sheets and PowerPoint / Slides at a level where the work never needs cleanup. Character. Collaborative, resourceful, and steady in ambiguity. Entrepreneurial by instinct, not by job description. All the ingredients. Right blend. Pure results.
