Position: Senior Salesforce Developer (Onsite)

Work schedule: 5-days onsite for the first 3 months and then 3-days onsite is a possibility.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Salesforce Developer to design, build, and maintain Salesforce solutions that support university operations such as admissions, student recruitment, enrollment, and student services. This role will lead the configuration of standard Salesforce features and functionality, development of custom Salesforce solutions, and development of integrations between Salesforce and other enterprise systems. This roll will serve as a technical resource for Salesforce best practices across the institution. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on development skills with business process analysis and solution design expertise, and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable, well-architected solutions in a higher education environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy custom Salesforce solutions using Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and declarative tools (Flow, Process Builder).
• Configure solutions using standard Salesforce features and functionality (e.g., objects, fields, page layouts, Flow, validation rules, reports/dashboards), evaluating configuration-based approaches before custom development where appropriate.
• Conduct business process analysis with university stakeholders to identify requirements, document current- and future-state workflows, and design effective, scalable Salesforce solutions.
• Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and other enterprise systems using REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, and other integration technologies.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot SQL queries and data models to support reporting, data migration, and integration needs.
• Collaborate with functional teams (admissions, enrollment management, advancement, student affairs, IT) to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Administer and configure Salesforce org(s), including security models, profiles, permission sets, workflows, and custom objects/fields.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including code reviews, unit testing, deployment planning, and post-release support.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
• Maintain technical documentation for custom development, integrations, and system configurations.
• Stay current with Salesforce releases, new features, and best practices, and recommend enhancements to improve university processes.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior developers and administrators as needed.
• Ensure compliance with university data security, privacy, and governance policies, including FERPA where applicable.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of relevant experience building solutions using Salesforce platform or equivalent.
• Significant professional experience developing on the Salesforce platform (Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, SOQL/SOSL).
• Demonstrated experience building and supporting Salesforce integrations with third-party systems using REST/SOAP APIs.
• Demonstrated experience with business process analysis and solution design, including gathering requirements, documenting workflows, and evaluating standard configuration versus custom development approaches.
• Solid understanding of Salesforce data architecture, governance, security model, and declarative automation tools (Flow, Process Builder).
• Prior experience working in higher education.
• Strong proficiency in SQL for querying, data analysis, and data manipulation.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with TargetX, Slate, or an equivalent higher education CRM platform.
• Familiarity with FERPA and other regulations governing the handling of student data.
• Experience with Salesforce Education Cloud / Education Data Architecture (EDA).
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and deployment tools/CI-CD pipelines for Salesforce (e.g., Gearset, Copado, SFDX).
• Experience integrating Salesforce with a Student Information System (SIS) such as Banner, Ellucian Colleague, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, or equivalent.
• Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer I/II, Salesforce Administrator, or Application Architect.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
