Job Overview The Menomonee Falls Police Department is accepting applications for Law Enforcement Academy Sponsorship. This recruitment is for non-certified or applicants with less than one (1) year of law enforcement experience. Selected candidates will attend an 18‑week Academy and must complete the Department’s Field Training program. Upcoming Academy Sessions July 29 – December 4, 2026 January 5 – May 7, 2027 July 28 – December 3, 2027 Job Summary This entry‑level position reports to the Patrol Bureau Supervisor and involves patrol, traffic monitoring, investigations, emergency response, and basic police services. Responsibilities Use patrol driving and walking techniques. Observe violations of laws and take appropriate action through citations and arrests. Make high‑risk field contacts. Detect and report hazards to public safety and other required agencies. Inspect licensed premises for law violations. Conduct field interrogations of suspicious persons. Operate radar or other speed‑detection equipment. Direct traffic. Receive emergency and non‑emergency assignments from dispatcher and supervisors. Comprehend and utilize the Incident Command System (ICS) and assume incident command. Conduct preliminary and follow‑up investigations. Take persons into protective custody. Monitor detainees held in municipal lockup and transport to county jail. Conduct surveillance to develop intelligence. Load, unload, and clean department weapons. Follow booking procedures. Provide credible testimony before courts and participate in depositions and pre‑trial conferences. Prepare for judicial proceedings and testify in court. Use sources of information including manual and computerized files. Identify, collect, and preserve evidence. Conduct searches within legal guidelines. Interview adult and juvenile suspects, witnesses, and victims. Secure search warrants. Operate department vehicles in emergency and non‑emergency fashion. Prepare reports and make field notes. Receive and transmit radio messages. Utilize communication equipment including radios, telephones, and computers. Confer with supervisors on work processes, incidents, problems, and plans. Make non‑enforcement public contacts. Deliver emergency messages to citizens. Inform citizens of crime prevention techniques. Use reasonable force and firearms to lawfully control people. Expected Proficiencies Applicants must be proficient in basic police skills and techniques, familiar with routine department procedures and policies, and fully competent with criminal law, local ordinances, and departmental directives. Citizenship U.S. Citizen Education / Training / Experience High school diploma or equivalent. One of the following: Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field. 60 college‑level credits. Physical Tasks and Environmental Conditions Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, with occasional lift up to 50 pounds. Meet physical fitness requirements including frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and manual dexterity. License Eligible for a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License by date of appointment. Other Must be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must meet the minimum qualification standards for Police Officer at the time of application. Primary Work Location Village Hall, 156N8480 Pilgrim Road, Menomonee Falls, WI 53051. Salary Year 1: $39.72 per hour ($82,617.60 annually). Year 2: $44.22 per hour ($91,977.60 annually). Year 3: $45.54 per hour ($94,723.20 annually). Year 4: $47.98 per hour ($99,798.40 annually). Effective 03/01/2026. Recruitment Process Applications are reviewed, evaluated, and scored based on education and experience; minimum requirements must be met. Applications remain active for six months. Assessment Center: series of evaluative exercises and tests related to the job; conducted on an “as needed” basis. Police & Fire Commission oral interviews. Once an eligibility list is established, the Chief of Police appoints candidates as openings arise. All appointments subject to background investigation, psychological evaluation, physical fitness screening, hearing, vision evaluation, medical examination, and drug test. Re‑Application Procedures Uncertified applicants may reapply after one year from original application.
