Deputy Sheriff - Law Enforcement Academy Sponsorship (Open 5.11.26)

Job Overview Waukesha County is accepting applications for Law Enforcement Academy Sponsorship. This recruitment is for non‑certified/non‑academy applicants. Candidates hired from this recruitment will be sent to an 18‑week Law Enforcement Academy from January 4 2027 through May 7 2027. Salary and costs are covered by the Waukesha County Sheriff's Office. Upon successful completion of the Academy, candidates must then successfully complete the Department’s Field Training program. Salary Range $36.60 – $46.78 Requirements High School Diploma or GED. United States citizen. At least 18 years of age. Sixty (60) credits of post‑high school education (associate degree level or higher) from an accredited university, college or technical school, preferably in criminal justice, police science, business or public administration, or the social sciences must be attained by October 1 2026. A maximum of 60 credits may be waived by the Board; waiver must be in effect at the time of application. Ability to possess a firearm. No felony convictions. Possession of a valid driver's license. Successful completion of a Physical Readiness Test (PRT). Ability to complete a department‑issued Physical Ability Test (PAT) annually. Pass extensive background check, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, medical examination, and drug test.
