Job Title Mobile Diesel Technician Level II Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Use sound judgment to identify problems and evaluate alternatives. Manage parts inventory on company‑issued service trucks and perform periodic reconciliations. Maintain and operate the service vehicle, including safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs and resolve problems. Prioritize task assignments and manage time allocations independently. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work in Repair Orders (RO) using the TRAIT application. Complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely manner. Work independently and manage personal daily schedule. Maintain high productivity and adhere to standard repair times. Source parts from approved local and national vendors. Communicate with management for repair estimate approvals and purchase order numbers. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED with at least 3 years of related experience, or a higher degree/certification with 5 years of experience. Possess the hand tools necessary for the required duties. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical. Maintain a valid DOT medical card with a minimum of 4 months remaining, or complete a DOT physical if less than 4 months. Be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver’s license, with the ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File. Required Certifications ASE T8 (PMI) within 18 months of hire. Preferred Certifications ASE T3 (Drivetrain) ASE T4 (Brakes) ASE T5 (Suspension) ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems) ASE T7 (HVAC) ASE 608/609 (Transit Routing/GIPS) Skills & Abilities Apply new information to problem‑solving and decision‑making. Lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for extended periods; perform moderately heavy labor. Communicate information succinctly and maintain effective two‑way communication. Identify needed tools and equipment accurately. Use logic and reasoning to evaluate solutions and approaches.
