Custodial Worker

Job Title: Custodial Worker Job Description

As a custodial worker, you will be responsible for performing daily custodial duties to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of various facilities. You will assist with donation intake and transportation between locations, drive company vehicles for donation pick-up, and support warehouse operations. Basic facility maintenance tasks and collaborative work with staff and volunteers are also integral to this role.

Responsibilities

• Perform sweeping, mopping, disinfecting, and trash removal on a daily basis.

• Maintain cleanliness of bathrooms, warehouse areas, and facility grounds.

• Assist with donation intake, organization, and transportation between locations.

• Drive company vehicles to pick up and transport donations.

• Move materials using manual labor or equipment such as hand trucks.

• Support warehouse operations by stocking and organizing supplies.

• Perform basic facility maintenance, such as unclogging sinks and minor repairs.

• Assist with opening and closing duties when needed.

• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to maintain facility operations.

• Maintain safety standards and complete monthly safety checks.

Essential Skills

• Must have a valid NYS driver’s license.

• Comfortable driving sprinter/commercial vans and occasional box trucks.

• Strong attendance and reliability.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.

• 6–12 months of custodial, warehouse, or related experience preferred.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment.

• Must pass Federal and State Background Check and Sex Offender Registry Check.

This is a Contract position based out of Hempstead, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
