Sr Import Forwarding Agent

Job Description

To provide customers with the highest quality service by providing consistent customer service and shipment processing in order to ensure timely movement of freight/cargo.

• Provide and ensure a high level of customer service by developing and maintaining a strong relationship with customers' front line personnel in the various operating divisions and subsidiaries.
\n
• Prepare, analyze, and/or submit documentation to the appropriate parties (agents and clients) in order to ensure they are in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to transportation.
\n
• Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems which could delay the timely release or movement of freight.
\n
• Maintain relationships with correspondent brokers, T&B, and other service providers to ensure that agents exceed the customers' service requirements.
\n
• Resolve banking and letter of credit problems.
\n
• Advise customers on payment terms.
\n
• Resolve billing issues and ensure that invoicing and vendor payments are billed accurately.
\n
• Complete accurate data input or corrections into computer files.
\n
• Obtain payment on delinquent accounts and/or complete accounting adjustment forms for review.
\n
• Develop rates and/or provide quotes for the movement of freight.
\n
• Research and negotiate Air Carrier and CFS rates.
\n
• Resolve billing issues on customer's behalf.
\n
• Generate special manual reports to meet customer’s needs.
\n
• Participate in QBR meetings with customers via phone or face to face meetings.
\n
• Review Letters of Credit
\n
• Handle ITAR shipments.
\n
• Coordinate out of gauge shipments.
\n
• Handle Hazmat shipments
\n
• Monitor, address, and delegate all iServe Cases
\n
• Work with management in anticipating and/or identifying any existing problems with regard to workflow and productivity output.
\n
• Assist with training within the department
\n
• Assist in account implementation, including development of SOP with customers, operations, and sales department.
\n

• High school diploma/GED.
\n
• Proficient computer skills.
\n
• Strong cust svc, organizational, and communication (written/oral) skills.
\n
• Strong knowledge freight forwarding or logistics required.
\n
• Strong knowledge of air export regulations, if appropriate, related to export and Schedule B tariff classification.
\n
• Banking requirements for int'l trade.
\n
• "Regulations regarding dangerous goods shipping & foreign regulations."
\n
• Familiarity with handling hazardous materials
\n
• Knowledge of regulations for import/export related to DOT.
\n
• Basic math skills for conversions to metric and currency evaluations
\n
• Three (3) years of experience in freight forwarding or logistics or work/field experience.

Pay: $32.21 - $48.30 USD Hourly

\n

Additional Details: Shift: Sunday - Thursday 8:30am - 5:30pm (On-site). Must live within 50 miles of posted location.

In New Jersey, any compensable Security and Walk time will be paid to non-exempt/hourly employees at the state minimum wage.
